X Marks the Spot

One of the first pieces of art I sold here in the Desert: A chess set made on a circular board. I agree, squeezing 64 squares into a perfect circle was challenging, trying to make the Rooks fit on the board. So the circle wasn’t too perfect...lol It was still a lovely piece.

Raku fired, hand building in clay, chess pieces made of Stonehenge characters and facade. I had donated it to the Tucson Botanical Garden's show. I always wondered who bought it...as I have forgotten what the individual pieces looked like...lol

Oh well. Maybe one day I will see the chess set again. Now, I suppose, it was simply foreshadowing. I moved in copper work after that. Only some ruka-fired, hand-built clay tiles with Celtic symbology, that hung above my work desk, after that. I learned to take pics of my work after the chess set.

No wonder it was so hard to get the Rooks on a circular chessboard.

Just realized, as was noticing yesterday, how moving the fingers on the mouse. Brushing the mouse...lmao is like the mantras of hand gestures.

Have not pulled out my edition of Course in Miracles in a long time. It is embedded in my nightstand table. Originally published in 1976, in the Bicentennial Year of Our Lord...lol

My edition is probably 25 years old. I should pull it out and see all the hand noted scribbles in the white space. Bend the Spoon. I remember thinking then also, "Just get up and move the damn chair.” lol Loved it when the Matrix popped up though.

Still my favorite passages: 'There are No Special Relationships'. Changed my life. Sent me packing well on my way...lol

Wished someone would have told that to my third grade teacher. Ha! Well I did. Sent me backing off to the so called gifted kid thread. lol

I sounded out ‘theater’ while reading aloud. Two syllable word. Not three. Silent second of a. After my sermon on the mount and laughter of the class, the teacher said, “That’s it young lady you’re going to the office.” I said somewhere along the way, “Yes.” She said, “Yes, what?” I said peevishly, “Yes, I know.” Turned out I was supposed to say, “Yes, Ma’am.” I hadn’t learned all the rules of Southern Living by that point. lmao
