I was a doing a little research myself and found the effects on 'children' interesting...


Pain, which can be intense, numbness and tingling in the area around the sting, but little or no swelling
Muscle twitching or thrashing
Unusual head, neck and eye movements
Drooling
Sweating
Restlessness or excitability and sometimes inconsolable crying

Adults are more likely to experience:

Rapid breathing
High blood pressure
Increased heart rate
Muscle twitching
Weakness

Serotonin is largely produced by one brain area, the dorsal Raphe nucleus. It is found in the brain stem, and serotonin produced in it cascades over the rest of the brain from there, instead of being produced primarily in synapses, like, say, anandamide (an endocannabinoid neurotransmitter).

Among all the neurotransmitter systems, serotonin is the slowest to re-regulate.

However, the receptor pathways are easily powered down, then restarted. This is most likely to occur after sleep deprivation;

perhaps in the case of scorpion stings, it is the pain or trauma that keeps the stung child awake, and the serotonergic neurons power down as per usual.

So in many respects the whole syndrome mimics sleep deprivation.

Well 'syndrome' refers to the whole course, and the secondary effects.

For example, concussion 'syndrome' is at full effect long after the original blow was struck.

What is a BAM?

I think it would be cool to make a washer/dryer single unit like a big servo motor. Stainless drum. Induction for heating and braking.
