Earth's Tallest Lightning Seen in Unprecedented Detail

Mysterious and gigantic jets of lightning that shoot up to near the edge of space have now been observed in unprecedented detail, revealing just how much charge they pack and how they form....................

Re: X Marks the Spot

just like when I posted about orange cats you all ran with it for weeks...

from then everything was orange...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35161683

Just wanted to mention...

I arrived at my beach house several days ago and I noticed something I had not seen prior, although here for over a month rather recently.

Essentially, on the first day I saw 2 nearly identical orange cats posturing aggressively toward each other. One of the orange cats appeared spooked and ran closer to my house.

Since that time, I have seen that orange cat or the other, every time I go outside. Never together since.

Whether one side of the house or the other, there one of them is.

Mewing to itself.

you know what i find strange in all of our creation histories
we have buildings older than the writing dates , buildings we would struggle to recreate today
and
we have creation stories never updated to match the knowing that must have existed to construct the buildings
why leave the stories unedited
unless
the builders and the history writers are two different people as in:
local (creation history writers)
non local (structure creators)

i know aliens are popular and there was a time when i did not doubt space fairing humanoids, having snarphled an *enormous* amount of science fiction: you should see my library...

but recently i've begun to seriouly doubt their existence, not just here on earth, but everywhere/anywhere. Not that there aren't other life like us and the rest of the biosphear on other planets, i'm pretty sure there's lots of those. i just don't think that there's any life like us wandering around in metal boxes zooming between the stars.

which is kind of a bummer, cuz i can't enjoy much of my sci-fi anymore...

here's my thinking:

science (and be extension, science fiction) posits planets and stars as mere matter, complex matter to be sure, but entirely free from thinking or conciousnes. They imagine humans or human like animals to be the currunt peak of evolution (discounting the whole energy being thing) raised by chance and survival of the fittest to our 'amazing' hieghts of awesome itelectual prowess and that given time and ingenuity, they (or us) eventually build craft with which they/we zoom off and explore and/or colonize the rest of the galaxy.

someday to join the galactic community of spacefairing clans filled with all manor of adventure and drama....

sometimes there's this as yet (even to advance races) unknowable all pervading creator god or gods, but usually not.

it was all very exciting for a young and then not so young man: particularly in light of the mundane life i was forced to live within...

but years of gobbling actual science coupled with my own thinking and a couple of truly astonishing experiences have changed my thinking on the subject.

starting small: i have realized that humans (and other animals) are not 'single' organisms: we are colonies. We function as a result of a very complex and multifacetted ecosystem that recieves and process information on many levels: chemical, electrical, and magnetic. That we are legion. the "I" is a construct of the mind. a small part as it turns out. the "I" is an illusion. The self results from the colective information processing of all the life that lives in us and on us - did you know that if our skin was not atached to us, it could be considered a life form all on its own? It has two boundaries(inside and outside) it's own neuronic processors and functions almost by itself, protecting all the life inside and in reurn being fed nurtrients by that same life: our skin is *alive* in its own right. All the way down to the cellular level, each bit is a collony, a collective.

This doesn't even include the order of magnitude more of 'foreign' life that we depend on for almost every aspect of our functioning: there are bacteria that sit on top of DNA and manage its devision, copying itself into each new divided cell. i find that fact amazing.

it's almost as if we are a substrate on which this life can live.

Did you know that the heart has more neurons than muscle fiber?

Did you know that the placenta has its own 'brain"?!?

But what happens when you take this life *out* of the womb that is the body?

it dies, that's what.

the life that we depend on for life cannot live outside of the enclosure that we call a singular being, a single "I".

we are legion.

and even within the etherial nature of our mind, there exists not one, but many. The mental construct that we think of as a single mind is in fact a commitee and the decisions and actions we make are infact the result of a consensus of many voices: all humans are schisophrentic, its simply a matter of degree whether we call them 'insane' or not.

and to the celluar and microbial life that lives as a part of us (largely minding their own business) we are God, and the many voices that exist within our minds are angels.

we are the God of our own body and the voices that make up the commitee of decision makers are the angels: each with their own agenda and desires. All driving the huge terestrial 'ship' thru the 'galaxy; of the earth, moving at incredibly slow rates compared to the quick functioning of a cell or a bacterium and traveling thru the 'vast' distances of the earthen 'galaxy'.

if they leave us (and they do) they get sick and die...

so now, scale that up to a planet, moving thru the galaxy at (to us) incredibly slow rates, perusing the wider galaxy thru (to us) vast distances.

can u see where i'm going with this...?

Now consider all the medical science that shows how much astronauts suffer when they spend just short periods in very near space...

We are part of the body/mind that is a planet and when we leave that body we suffer and if we go too far, as we will probably attempt to, we will die.

We depend on Gaia for our well being and outside of her womb we will become sick and die.

There are no aliens.

The wider galaxy is for the stellar and planetary minds.

and all the rest of the aliens that are like us are also bound to their planetary bodies. Sure they exist, but they do not fly around in zippy little metal boxes preying on innocent humans.

that's how i see it anyway.

it just makes sense to me, paticularly in light of the more astounding events that have been imposed upon me.

i'm not i understand u, seestar?

what does that mean, "conquer time"?

do you mean escape our own linear temporal experience? Why does it need to be conquered? why would you want to?

one minute can feel like an eternity, one day can flash by in what feels like seconds.

do you wish to change your expereince of time?

i don't buy interdimentionality, nor parallel universes, the the concepts can make for interesting stories...

i believe in dimensions in experience: microbe, human, planet, galaxy... it's all bout how quicky you gather data and process it. it's quite likely that a planetary 'seccond' lasts a human millina and a microbial age.

there are paralell universes, but they exist in the same place: the universe of a microbe exists within the universe of a human, in parralel, but use the same 'matter'.

it's about how each *expereince* time, not how quickly time moves...

i do not think that "time" is flexible, tho the *expereince* of time most certainly is: if you've ever talked with someone who's had a transendetal experience, they will tell you that they experienced what felt like hours or days of time, all the while the clock ticked just mere minutes.

No... I mean what if at some point, any point, past, present, future, in any imaginable scenario, man or some aspect of, learned to travel within/between 'time' or timelines...

For example, it was said that the 'Hebrews' arrived as 'time travelers' to speak to Thoth in the time of Atlantis.

Re: X Marks the Spot
There are no aliens.

The wider galaxy is for the stellar and planetary minds.

and all the rest of the aliens that are like us are also bound to their planetary bodies. Sure they exist, but they do not fly around in zippy little metal boxes preying on innocent humans.

that's how i see it anyway.

it just makes sense to me, paticularly in light of the more astounding events that have been imposed upon me.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9905909

hmm

Why do you think information age technology is the limit?

Furthermore... how do you explain Gematria, if not aliens?

i don't recall saying information tech was a limit. all i said was that we won't be physically leaving this planet in little metal boxes. and that there are no aliens visiting us from afar.

i have no idea what the limit is nor where we are going within out biosphear, but i can tell you that 'tech' is nothing compared with certain magical experiences and that it is quite possible that we will learn that a large portion of our tech is doing us more harm than good.

particularly when when 'good' is measured in quality of life experience and personal development.

...

i have no idea what the conversion of letters to numbers has to do with the subject or why it has anything to do with aliens.

enlighten me.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9905909

hmm

Who came up with the idea for Gematria? Who gave them the idea? Why are aliens referenced? etc etc...

But... I think I misinterpreted your first post... hf
 Quoting: Azeratel Axo

why must an idea that seems amazing to you or "alien" be originated by star travelers? i have witnessed thought in other humans that astounds me, and ideas that emerge from their minds that were totally alien to me.

what if a human learned the language of the dolphins? what sort of ideas do you think *they* have : plenty of aliens right here on Gaia...

there were just as many brilliant minds in the past as there are in the present.

as far as i can tell the only *real* diference between then and now is that more of us exchange our own alien ideas with each other and wit the comming of the information age that data transfer increases at exponential rates.

Gaia's mind is quickenning. i can't help but wonder what will happen when we reach the next threshold.

as a crafter/artist/engineer i know that my best ideas 'came from nowhere" arriving in my mind almost unbidden... did *I* do that? or something else?

how do you know it's not all Her idea to begin with and we just *imagine* ownership, preening in our cleverness that was never ours to begin with.

brilliance = alien and not a one of them could tell you where their ideas come from...

i do not hold ownership over my ideas.

my conscious thought pales in comparison with my inspiration.

from when does the 'light bulb' get lit?

think about that for a bit.

Yod

[link to www.hebrew4christians.com]

'Y'

Masculine symbol.

10 letter Hebrew alphabet.

In summary, the Path of The Hermit – the Path of Yod (which leads to Tiphereth at the very heart of the Cabbalistic Tree) – is a path on which the traveller will encounter all those destructive and generative energies of Nature which are associated with Cronus-Saturn. On this path, sacrifices are made as the old order is broken down, insemination takes place and a period of gestation begins. Past, present and future; the energies of 7 (Saturn’s alchemical number), 9 and 10; and the energies of 4 (Chesed: the material world) and 6 (Tiphereth: The Way) – all must be encountered on this path before a new birth can occur and bring new order and new creative energies to the traveller’s world.

seems logical, i agree.

tho i am not convinced. i once read a study about a guy who fell off a tall building on purpose while watching a clock to see if the hands moved slower to his perception.

it didn't.

lol

i think it might have more to due with our own internal processing frequency shifting pace.

i know what the transendantal expereince feels like (to me) and i can tell you for a fact that we are able to change our processing rate.

when you gather data at a faster rate, everything else slows down.
