Others rock their whole body or just roll their head. It may occur as they are falling asleep, to actually help them fall asleep, or sometimes during non-REM sleep. Other experts consider head banging to be a self-soothing habit, just like thumb sucking or hair pulling. Either way, it is usually thought to be normal and is estimated to occur in up to 15% of children who are growing and developing normally. |

Perhaps that is how I picked up on the Paranormal Activity 2 movie. The scene is nearly identical but backwards. The child is being pulled up instead of falling down. For some reason I am getting flashbacks of the hype built around the Blair Witch Project with it being passed off as a 'real event'. Dunno, that is certainly a lot of activity... Quoting: acuk 35420317 I have found nearly the entity of the American movie industry to be lacking, for at least a decade. Movie brilliance seemed to fall off around 99 or so. Don't get me wrong there are still great movies. But nothing quite like getting your hair blown back. Maybe it is a product of personal maturity and that most the movies today cater to an average 14 y/o. The majority of the movies I have enjoyed over the last several years were foreign films... :) Last Edited by Seer777 on 03/02/2013 06:21 PM "Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body." ~Seneca |

To me it comes down to basic necessity. I can go to my tap and draw out clean water for whatever purpose. While half a world away, there are still those(women/children) that spend 6 hrs every day, going to and carrying water back to be utilized for house hold purposes. 6 hrs. To get water. Every day. That doesn't leave much time for much else. By essentially canceling out the need to spend 6 hrs collecting water, to near seconds, man can spend that time doing something else. Does that make sense? It is easy to take for granted, the ease of our comforts today. :SweetNostalgia: :) That is what I was thinking, they did it out of necessity. Like living in the woods in the old days, they would tell stories to scare the children from wandering away into the woods of the night. Their fear of their children lost caused them to use fear tactics towards their children. And the reason is because it worked for the majority because their parents did the same thing, and the cycle moves until one goes against the grain and comes up with a new way to be. |

As find this type of medium to do little other than cause people to fear that which may be labeled as the 'paranormal'. It seems, people are inherently drawn to this topic, often due to an unexplainable experience. Which most likely caused fear or deep curiosity at the time. To find that moment again, one will attempt to 're-create' it artificially through cinema, books, gaming, etc. How the paranormal is often portrayed today would lead one to believe more in the fear than the curiosity. Yet that remains as well. The 'fear' aspect gets ingrained with the 'creep' factor often due to the types musical effects utilized during 'scary scenes'. Which is then can be automatically expressed when confronting a true paranormal event that one may witness. Most will stand dumbfounded and either dismiss it entirely, tell only select people, or never say a word... :) "Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body." ~Seneca |
