Re: X Marks the Spot
A thousand men would lose their lives before the great enemy was conquered. It took three long years, and before it was done the ground outside the mountain was filled with makeshift, sandy graves. The new tunnels were filled with smoke and dust. Ya couldn't see no-how and could hardly breathe. But John Henry, he worked tirelessly, drilling with a 14-pound hammer, and going 10 to 12 feet in one workday. No one else could match him.

Re: X Marks the Spot
What a difficult and trying week it has been in this country. Like a whirlwind of fear, confusion, anxiety and anger.

Ending tonight with the 'apprehension' of 'suspect 2' who was hiding...in a 'boat' it seems.

...

Feels a bit like 'foundations' have been rocked and the Earth responded in like.

Nuclear War trepidation, banks imploding, stock market, mass murder, explosions, and earthquakes...

Sounds a bit like business as usual, but this felt a bit different...somehow.

Phew.

May at some point Man find and cultivate that which unites, and focus not on that which 'divides'.

1. The past is possibility
According to Hawking and Mlodinow, one consequence of the theory of quantum mechanics is that events in the past that were not directly observed did not happen in a definite way. Instead they happened in all possible ways. This is related to the probabilistic nature of matter and energy revealed by quantum mechanics: Unless forced to choose a particular state by direct interference from an outside observation, things will hover in a state of uncertainty.

For example, if all we know is that a particle traveled from point A to point B, then it is not true that the particle took a definite path and we just don't know what it is. Rather, that particle simultaneously took every possible path connecting the two points.

Yeah, we're still trying to wrap our brains around this.

The authors sum up: "No matter how thorough our observation of the present, the (unobserved) past, like the future, is indefinite and exists only as a spectrum of possibilities."
 Quoting: observation

Thread: 8 shocking things we learned from Stephen Hawking's book

what Hawkins is saying is there is uncertainty if no force observation/affect) is present
that sounds like common sense in an electric universe which possess observed fields of influence through every inch of electric/magnetic nature
the fact it can never be without force affect makes it odd for him to word it that way
but
do we see why he does

we will forget the archaic notion that only god and man possess the ability to observe thus their observation forms order out of uncertainty
and
we will forget the other odd notion that if mankind disappeared, order in our universe could never exist thus it is mans presence within our universe that forms it in the order it is

i think hawkins has a god complex
that is his issue alien03

This is interesting, I think this story relates.

Standing on the top of a waterfall in a forest, a voice says one has to get creative and manifest the destiny that one desires. Jumping off the waterfall and falling for eternity. Splashing down into a jungle setting, there were gray spectral tigers that started on a chase. Fear arose. As they ran, their claws would tear into the ground ripping it away leaving black space. Running and running until another waterfall appears. Instead of jumping to escape from spectral fear, the manifest of an energy weapon appears and a fight ensues and the spectral animals are defeated. Then jumping into the jungle waterfall the realization hits; this running and jumping is neural transmitters racing on a neural pathway. Falling back down into the first forest waterfall from the jungle waterfall, there is a reflective pool of water. It is loud and thunderous because of the waterfall. The reflection brings confidence, wisdom, and serenity.

Good morning everyone.

Beautiful day here.

I still have that information from yesterday writhing in my head. Strange how information can change how you can view reality. It's fun, and interesting too, to be able to jump back and forth between the different perceptual viewpoints. And, that's not even including altered states of consciousness.

Hmmm. Just out of curiosity...how do I 'feel' aether?
The engravings translate to "This space intentionally left blank."

The prayer is inscribed in an ancient script, rarely used today. It seems to be a philippic against small insects, absent-mindedness, and the picking up and dropping of small objects.

The gate is open; through it you can see a desolation, with a pile of mangled bodies in one corner. Thousands of voices, lamenting some hideous fate, can be heard.
The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

Perhaps they are all out celebrating the 4:20 day

wink

Have you heard the tradition behind this?

A widely discussed story says that a group of teenagers in San Rafael, California, calling themselves the Waldos, because "their chosen hang-out spot was a wall outside the school", used the term in connection to a fall 1971 plan to search for an abandoned cannabis crop that they had learned about.

The Waldos designated the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and 4:20 p.m. as their meeting time.

The Waldos referred to this plan with the phrase "4:20 Louis". Multiple failed attempts to find the crop eventually shortened their phrase to simply "4:20", which ultimately evolved into a codeword that the teens used to mean pot-smoking in general.

Mike Edison says that Steve Hager of High Times was responsible for taking the story about the Waldos to "mind-bogling, cult like extremes" and "suppressing" all other stories about the origination of the term.

Hager wrote "Are You Stoner Smart or Stoner Stupid?" in which he called for 4:20 p.m. to be the socially accepted hour of the day to consume cannabis. He attributes the early spread of the phrase to Grateful Dead followers, who were also linked to the city of San Rafael.
April 20 observances

April 20 has evolved into a counterculture holiday in North America, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis. Some events have a political nature to them, advocating for the legalization of cannabis.

North American observances have been held in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park near the Haight-Ashbury district, the University of Colorado's Boulder campus, Ottawa, Ontario, at Parliament Hill and Major's Hill Park, Montréal, Québec at Mount Royal monument, as well as Vancouver, British Columbia at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The growing size of the unofficial event at UC Santa Cruz caused the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs to send an e-mail to parents in 2009, which stated in part "The growth in scale of this activity has become a concern for both the University and surrounding community."

Events have also occurred in Auckland, New Zealand at the Daktory. and Dunedin, New Zealand, at University of Otago.
