lol

In the last two minutes, a shirtless man passed my booth with 4 particular tattoos.

666 and 777 tattooed on either side of his chest. And Alpha and Omega on each arm.

I called him over and asked him what they meant to him...he didn't really say, just that the '777' was his 'first tattoo'.

Just now, My booth neighbor just returned wearing a hat which says on the back Triple 8.

I agree. I felt his effort at explaining, lacking.

I have no tattoos either. Nor piercing besides my ears.

When I was a teen I had both my navel and tongue pierced. My navel gave me constant issues and when I became a preschool teacher in college, I felt the tongue ring inappropriate.

So I removed it.

Forever.

Re: X Marks the Spot
hmm

'Zoroastrian' prompts the following for me

....

"I teach you the overman. Man is something that shall be overcome. What have you done to overcome him?

"All beings so far have created something beyond themselves; and do you want to be the ebb of this great flood and even go back to the beasts rather than overcome man? What is the ape to man? A laughingstock or a painful embarrassment. And man shall be just that for the overman: a laughingstock or a painful embarrassment. You have made your way from worm to man, and much in you is still worm. Once you were apes, and even now, too, man is more ape than any ape.

"Whoever is the wisest among you is also a mere conflict and cross between plant and ghost. But do I bid you become ghosts or plants?

"Behold, I teach you the overman! The overman is the meaning of the earth. Let your will say: the overman shall be the meaning of the earth! I beseech you, my brothers, remain faithful to the earth, and do not believe those who speak to you of otherworldly hopes! Poison-mixers are they, whether they know it or not. Despisers of life are they, decaying and poisoned themselves, of whom the earth is weary: so let them go!"

Funny story about that tongue ring.

On night shortly after I had removed it, I had JUST left a friends house when I was 'pulled over' by a cop.

While searching for my 'proof of insurance' I pulled a large stack of cards out of my wallet and started sifting through them.

While doing said, I noticed the little baggie, sifted past it, and so did he.

He said, "What is in that little bag?"

I said, Oh, and sifted back toward it, then showed him and said, that is my tongue ring.

He started for a moment then said..."You have your tongue pierced?"

I said, I did, I became a preschool teacher and decided it inappropriate.

He then was silent for a moment, shut off his flashlight and said,

"You're free to go..."

Yes.

It was a bit of a 'spur of the moment' choice just after I moved to Seattle at 18, in 1995. It was brand new to the mainstream at the time.

I only lived in Seattle for 8 months, due to getting extremely home sick.

When I returned to the town I grew up in, people were so horrified by my tongue ring, my parents included, they would stare at me, mouth agape, in horror and walk away.

As it became more prevalent, this stopped.

Yes.

I would often play with it.
I would run it back and forth on the back of my front teeth...making a distinctive sound.

But, once I hit my early 20's the novelty had worn off...

I seem to have a bit of a way with cops.

Another time I got pulled over just after having driven a few blocks to buy an ice cream bar.

It was very hot out.

He pulled me over, in my apartment complex.

I got out of my car, ice cream bar in hand. He walked up to me, said something about something, and I said...

My ice cream is melting down my arm...I'm going inside.

He was so shocked by this, he just stopped, then left.

Re: X Marks the Spot
Have you heard of the practice of leaving bodies to decay in the open air, very high on a purpose-built platform?

A friend was explaining to me some months ago a certain tribe that did this, and it worked remarkably well.

The bodies would be baked by the sun, and quickly consumed by vultures, all the while being out of 'eyeshot' by the villagers.

He remarked that this was the way he'd prefer to be 'buried'.
 Quoting: Azeratel Axo

The Parsee (Zoroastrians) community disposes its dead by placing the bodies in a place known as the ‘Tower of Silence’. The tower is open to the sky as it has no roof. The corpse is subjected to the rays of the sun to decompose and vultures to eat it.
