Re: X Marks the Spot
Then again, what is a recently inundated desert if not the finest of lands?

....

Numbers 20:13

This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.

....

VERY important consideration to make....
 Quoting: Azeratel Axo

"Aaron will be gathered to his people. He will not enter the land I give the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah.
Number 20:24

Meribah reminds me of 'Merkaba'.
 Quoting: Seer777

22 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came to mount Hor.

23 And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,

24 Aaron shall be gathered to his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.

25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to mount Hor:

26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered to his people, and shall die there.

27 And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.

28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.

29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.

Did Aaron just pull a Jesus here?

hmm

They sure as hell don't ACT like the LORD cast them out....

7 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

9 And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him.

10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

12 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
 Quoting: numbers 7 to 12

it looks like moses was told to talk to the rock (word) to bring forth water

moses used the rod saying not a word

Interesting indeed....

....

If you can do something more impressive than just throw a punch, your attack(s) must have an equally impressive name. More than that, you have to call it out as you launch the attack. It doesn't matter if it's a martial arts move, a magical spell or your secret superweapon, if you can't say its name, it just isn't nearly as cool or effective. Also, expect plenty of echoing to come with it, and (if a fighter is feeling particulary bombastic) dramatic... *pauses* ...WITHAYELLATTHEEND! A standard feature of practically every Magical Girl, high fantasy, or martial arts anime.

The origins of this phenomenon are at least Older Than Print, and probably much older. The idea that words can grant power is a cross cultural phenomenon that shows up frequently in the earliest tales of swords and sorcery. Members of the Sinitic ethnolinguistic family in particular tend to ascribe special importance to the power of written characters, and the belief that special words can invoke control over supernatural power permeates their folklore (just ask your local Shinto, Buddhist, or Taoist practitioner if they've donated to a shrine or temple to have a talisman written lately). The magic power of spoken and written words was also a key concept in Ancient Egyptian religion and Ritual Magic.

I have decided to stop being afraid of this...

As...why would God abandon me?

It wouldn't.

I know when IT leaves.

And it is painful...only due to wondering, WHY?

I have wondered if that is why Jesus cried out on the cross...

Father...why have you forsaken me?

Deuteronomy 34 NIV

1 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan,

2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea,

3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.

4 Then the Lord said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it."

5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said.

6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.

7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.

8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.

....

Matthew 4:9

"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."

Have you asked yourself what it is what you see?
Well, is it Mr. Cadillac or you?
Walking among those who nearly found peace
Into the light, and out of the blue
And the fallen will get down on his knees (x2)
And forever the man in the coat
Will cast his shadows among those who knows
the tale of the gangster who shot all his demons for good
Then along came the mirror and the ripper
What do you see in the night?

It can increase or decrease with time of course.

in my experience a lot of what is experienced will never make sense because the environment we form and sustain that the experiences occur within is not sensible
thus looking for answers that fit within what we possess is never satisfying because satisfying answers can not exist within what we possess
and
will never occur
until we alter the environment we form and sustain into the environment that does provide answers of spiritual satisfaction

Apathy.

I think that is a good way of looking at it.

By 'separation anxiety' I do not mean in a debilitating or even visible sense.

But that which happens 'internally'...

That feel of 'coming absence'. The pull of the hole. Of a person they care about being...separate

That 'closeness' of touch, lost.

Motive.

A man that feels he personally is owed is in it for himself.

A man that knows his DESCENDANTS will be taken care of, and is willing to sacrifice his entire life AND die for the cause, must be incredibly benevolent in his motive.... no?
