A true apparition story
My Nana lived with us until the day she passed. We were a large family living in a modest home. By the time my Nana had past two of my older siblings had already moved out in their quest for privacy. Being in line for a room of my own, other than the living room couch, I looked forward in anticipation to my own room. So with some trepidation, not much, I moved into my Nana’s room.

Being seventeen a room of my own made my comings and goings much easier. It allowed me a degree of freedom; I no longer had to navigate past my parents’ bedroom. Life was good. Gradually the thoughts of living in my Nana’s room lost all implications of weirdness. Just to allay any questions of a young man seeing something while in an altered state are raised, let me say on the night prior to this experience I had remained home. Staying at home was something that was definitely out of the ordinary and noteworthy for me at the time. In fact I had gone to bed early that night.

Having slept very soundly, I was awoken by something I can no longer recall. Nevertheless I found myself awake and alert. Then I saw it, it appeared in the middle of the room floating freely. It was a churning anomalous cloud. Vapors, white, grey and dark were churning within this amorphous cloud. Then, I heard a voice, it was a voice I would have recognized anywhere. It was my Nana’s voice, three times the voice spoke. Each time it repeated the same phrase, “recuerda me” (remember me). I gazed at the entity cloud as it moved closer, as if to stand over me. Again, “recuerda me”, by the second time I heard the voice, all apprehension in me disappeared, this was my Nana. Prior to me being able to address my Nana, I heard for the third time, “recuerda me”. Then the cloud faded as it had appeared.

Just then I heard a noise, it was my father preparing his morning coffee in the kitchen. It was the clang of metal on metal. Wishing to relate what had just happened, I jumped out of bed. I considered what my father would think of the account I was about to relate to him, but any trepidation was discarded with the excitement of the experience. I knew for certain of what had transpired. I came into the kitchen, my father was there standing at the counter making his coffee. I told my father, "dad you may not believe me and maybe think I’m crazy but…." I then relayed the entire story of my Nana’s appearance to him. While doing so my father looked at me intently not uttering a word. As I finished my story, I was uncertain what my father would say. I expected him to say “you’re crazy, what have you been smoking?” But instead, I got a response I never expected. My father asked me if I knew what was special about today. I replied no. With not so much as a doubt of disbelief in his eyes or his voice, he said, its Oct 13, the first anniversary of your Nana death. That stunned me with its implication. My father then asked me if I wanted a cup coffee, I replied yes, He prepared me a cup and we both sat down and drank a cup of coffee in silence. It was one of the times in my life that I could feel the bond that exist between us.
