I always said I liked the country and the city too and liked to be near both. The ocean is about an hour or so, west of I-5 which runs though population areas. The the coastline is long and varied with the best beaches on the central coast IMO. Yachats, Newport, Lincoln City are popular places. Along with Astoria.
