The Twin Myth

The name Quetzalcoatl is commonly translated to mean "Plumed Serpent" (Brundage 1979). It can also be translated according to Brundage as "Precious Twin". In his twin form Quetzalcoatl is seen as the twin of Xolotl, a dark and sinister god of the underworld. As twins, these two gods are seen as opposites, like Yin and Yang. With Quetzalcoatl representing light and Xolotl representing dark. Like Quetzalcoatl in his aspect as the plumed serpent, they also represent the planet Venus in is stages on the Morning and Evening Star. Brundage also offers the myth that Quetzalcoatl created the sun while Xolotl will destroy by sacrificing it.

The Magician Lord of the Toltecs

One of Quetzalcoatl other forms is as the human lord of the Toltecs, Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl (Nicholson 2001). In this form, Quetzalcoatl is seen as an mysterious wizard king who ruled the powerful Toltecs in their golden age. Eventually he was driven from the city by a rival but promised to return one day. He can be seen as a sort of Aztec King Arthur.

Interesting info, Seer. Perhaps this is somehow linked to the 'death defier' that is described in Castaneda's works. The ancient sorcerer who permanently changed his shape from a flattened egg - 'tombstone' like shape into a line in order to escape mortal death. He is described as a near immortal mortal and bargained with the Nagual of each generation of the toltec line, offering knowledge for the energy to keep going.

Yes. We have touched on this before. I can't help but wonder if the 'old man' I encountered in the laundry room could be the 'death defier'.

This question, more than any others, drives me onward.

Actually, that is a pretty scary scenario. Think unbalanced shamans tapping into something they don't know nor understand....pretty freaky!

I didn't mean to call you a lurker. It was meant to be more of a general 'thinking out loud' type of thing that your response prompted me to consider.

I met an old man as well...during a NDE sitting on a thrown of gold, surrounded by rainbows.

I have always assume it was 'God' or some projection therein.


He was quite stern with me.

A few billion me's would be a fucking catastrophe. Hah!

Well, my 'old man' first tried to convince me that my family lineage was important. (in our first encounter)

Then he tried to convince me that 'the good guys' don't get much 'press' or 'media attention' for a good reason. (on our second encounter).

Then he tried to infer that I was his son and he was very disappointed in me...that we didn't get along...that I was disobeying him somehow or that I was rebelling against him. (on our third encounter).

Then he said he was leaving and would never see me again. (on our fourth and final encounter).

He also spoke in the most abstract and dualistic way I have ever experienced. Everything he said seemed to be cryptic and full of many possible interpretations.
