Re: X Marks the Spot
Physically possess, or consciously possess?

I am bringing this up for a reason. The immediate example that comes to me is Mysteries. There is an innate curiosity with humans that has a need to solve Mysteries.

As we solve them, can we say that the solutions have value to us? I would say 'yes' for the most part. Those values should help us possess knowledge that helps us transcend suffering.

So, there would be a motive to possess that kind of information.

On other subjects, this would be different and the motive may be detrimental to our collective, rather than ones that are productive to the human condition/experience.
 Quoting: Septenary Man

that is nicely put because solving the mysteries by default alters material reality (lifestyle)
 Quoting: aether

You can solve without understanding; As you can place high technologies within an incoherent framework and their incongruencies will rattle until they bring the house down.

It's all about noise to signal ratios with any good antennae.

yes
replace technologies with environment
same "bring house down " affect with added bonus of simultaneously providing replacement emotional information of beneficial practical nature for new construction of "house" and implementation of new technologies
 Quoting: aether

Yes, now look at the hieroglyphs associated with upuat (at yesterdays link) with this in mind.

So do I aether.
The engravings translate to "This space intentionally left blank."

The prayer is inscribed in an ancient script, rarely used today. It seems to be a philippic against small insects, absent-mindedness, and the picking up and dropping of small objects.

The gate is open; through it you can see a desolation, with a pile of mangled bodies in one corner. Thousands of voices, lamenting some hideous fate, can be heard.
The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

that is the way we are going

our "opener of the way" showed it`s connectivity to archetypes of unknown design because they had been forgotten by ancestors of ours in more recent times thus we bridged very ancient past/memory to ancient past memory and in doing so enlivened the very ancient memory within our present
this gave us direct access to our very ancient ancestors and visitors in a manner which we believe to be natural because our introduction to them was conducted by our opener of ways whom itself was witness to both forgotten and remembered history and was instructed/constructed to do what it has done when the input signal matched it`s designed recognition signal as in:
opener of way would not and could not open the way unless the opener knew it was time/location to open
