An X46 missed Earth too around Halloween 2003... dubbed the Halloween storms.
An X46... and you are speaking about an X2?
The extreme X flares have actually been reduced in intensity over recent years. Last year, the largest was X6.9 in August 2011 (almost X7). Usually, if you do research on spaceweather.com in the archives, flares hit X10, X17, X20 in the early 2000s (2001 and 2003).
There is a lot more to worry about than an X2.
