The engravings translate to "This space intentionally left blank."

The prayer is inscribed in an ancient script, rarely used today. It seems to be a philippic against small insects, absent-mindedness, and the picking up and dropping of small objects.

The gate is open; through it you can see a desolation, with a pile of mangled bodies in one corner. Thousands of voices, lamenting some hideous fate, can be heard.
The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

Re: X Marks the Spot
Had to go out to dinner with our small office (5 people) and big boss in from Atlanta last night.

Utterly and completely miserable. I am realizing how much I am changing over the last years. All they talked about was college football and basketball and other inane things. I think I said about 10 words in 2 hours. They don't see it, as I still involve myself, but I found myself in the worst mood when I got home.

I felt like this all night long gaah

I've been having similar feelings on a variety of situations

Actually a couple of months back I was so immersed into certain stuff that things like this started happening too commonly and in a more intense way. A few special days felt like 'Ima run away and meditate in a cave', lol!

Gladly it got better now (:

Ok...I guess the talk about aethers sun/leys and anarctica reminds me of a program I saw not long ago about winter and summer solstice...and tracing the lines thru 3 continents...that ended at anarctica...

Could there by chance also be a spring and fall solstice? I have not even googled to see...but if there are 4 seasons then I would think its possible...or maybe its called something different altogether?

That is funny. You'd be the only one.

But no, no job. To tell you the truth I haven't even been looking that hard. I'm about to start really looking though. I haven't had a job for a long time and I think it is going to be tough to find a new one with the hole of down time on my resume.

No. Most employers understand perfectly what happened. Every employer in the entire US felt the impact of the last few years. It affected pretty much everyone, and as you know, still is. They know it too, trust me.

Re: X Marks the Spot
repeating patterns to fit habits formed from our belief in what the repeating patterns mean
 Quoting: aether

yes dion
we can take Pattern recognition (psychology) application right back to here:

Perhaps the most accomplished analyst of mythology in modern times was the late Mircea Eliade, chairman of the Department of History of Religions at the University of Chicago, and editor of the Encyclopedia of Religion. From his meticulous, lifelong survey of the subject, professor Eliade drew a stunning conclusion: literally every component of early civilizations--from religion to art and architecture--expressed symbolically the desire to recover and to re-live the lost Golden Age. That which symbolically transported the participant back to the First Time, the Golden Age, was sacred. That which did not was transient and mundane, of no interest.
 Quoting: observation

 Quoting: aether

we could say we are a planet in amnesia memorized by it`s own patterns from before we were in amnesia
 Quoting: aether

I REALLY like that.
 Quoting: Septenary Man

"According to Eliade, this "terror of history" becomes especially acute when violent and threatening historical events confront modern man—the mere fact that a terrible event has happened, that it is part of history, is of little comfort to those who suffer from it. Eliade asks rhetorically how modern man can "tolerate the catastrophes and horrors of history—from collective deportations and massacres to atomic bombings—if beyond them he can glimpse no sign, no transhistorical meaning".

Eliade indicates that, if repetitions of mythical events provided sacred value and meaning for history in the eyes of ancient man, modern man has denied the Sacred and must therefore invent value and purpose on his own. Without the Sacred to confer an absolute, objective value upon historical events, modern man is left with "a relativistic or nihilistic view of history" and a resulting "spiritual aridity".[177] In chapter 4 ("The Terror of History") of The Myth of the Eternal Return and chapter 9 ("Religious Symbolism and the Modern Man's Anxiety") of Myths, Dreams, and Mysteries, Eliade argues at length that the rejection of religious thought is a primary cause of modern man's anxieties."

Perhaps. But I have been out of work for over 2 years. I quit my last job at the end of June of 2010. That was about 6 months after my father passed away.

Then there was a period where I was putting a lot of time, effort, and planning into starting my own business with the money I had saved up.

I asked my 'family' to match the 100k I had saved up by working in Alaska. However, my 'family', despite the fact that they had 'gifted' my sister 3 times as much money, they refused to match my investment.

Then we had a rather large falling out between us, especially with my sister. My brother had been basically disowned by my father because he cut himself and his young daughters off from the family in 2002. We hadn't seen him for 8 years when he showed up at the hospital the day my father passed away.

So, now my 'family' don't talk to me and have decided that I will never receive anything from my father's estate, yet my mother now will pay for the college education of my brother's girls. My father had written a new will explicitly stating that my brother was to get nothing.

So I guess you could say that things have changed in my family. My mother now decides who gets what and when they get it and the conditions they have to meet to get it.

Whereas my father had promised me personally that I would be given just as much as my sister. Of course, my Mom doesn't really care about my dead father's promises.

Sorry bout the rant.
