feels like those within the church saw the significance in relation to shamanism

Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Church of the East teach that the reality (the "substance") of the elements of bread and wine is wholly changed into the literal body and blood of Jesus Christ, while the appearances (the "species") remain. Transubstantiation is the term used by Roman Catholics to denote what is changed, not to explain how the transformation occurs, since the Catholic Church teaches that "the signs of bread and wine become, in a way surpassing understanding, the Body and Blood of Christ"

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34238586

I touched on that the other day...

It is the nature of the beast and reflective of its creations.

They who cannibalize one another.
 Quoting: Dionysian Fullaflattus

That reminds me of something another said to me many months ago. I believe it was regarding the Eucharist as essentially being a ritual representing cannibalism.

Being the body and blood of Christ.

However, I believe he also mentioned, that by consuming anything we are still essentially cannibalizing ourselves due to, everything being 'one' I believe...

Or something similar.

As I was discussing my loss of appetite at the time, and my appetite for only apples. He remarked that he had experienced something similar. Afterward having a different relationship with food which led into the above conversation.

I have been pondering on this image for the last 3 days or so, due to androgyny being a reoccurring topic.

I find it curious that St. John was depicted so feminine...

My immediate thought was, 'Isn't that cannibalism?"

That's a pretty good synch.

The image is definitely feminine.

Even the way he appears to be holding 'him'self. Covering if you will, the breast area.

I don't know anything about St. John, but I am being continually prompted to return to this image over the last few days.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) teaches that John received the promise of immortality from Jesus Christ, as recorded in John 21:21–23. It also teaches that in 1829, along with the resurrected Peter and the resurrected James, John visited Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery and restored the priesthood authority with Apostolic succession to earth. John, along with the Three Nephites, will live to see the Second Coming of Christ as translated beings. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

As for photons and mass it depends if you use Einstein's book formula or his original formula. E = mc2 is the textbook version E0 = mc2 is his original version. The first says a photon has mass, the second says a photon has mass, bot not at rest. In other words a photon only exists and has mass while it is moving.
 Quoting: cern thought

whoa
that was the crossover where einstein went from pro aether to anti aether

"In other words a photon only exists and has mass while it is moving."

well not really, mass is a dimension

the dimensions of discrete natural units (quanta) are length, frequency, mass , charge, and spherical geometry. Dimension is the fundamental attribute of measurement, but is not itself measurable. Absolute dimension is a quality of reality seemingly arising from the ultimate Source of all existence. When quantity is associated with dimension, then the two together form a measurement.
 Quoting: observation

it is not that a photon only exists when it moves it is a photon only possess weight when it moves

which is why everything always moves, the photon, according to einstein, is the structure that provides the crossover from non material to material
the photon is always moving thus it`s motion forms weight via inertia because in motion the photon influences (force(s)) the next scale up material unit(s)

Apostolic Signatura

The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura is the highest judicial authority in the Catholic Church (apart from the Pope himself, who as the supreme ecclesiastical judge, is the final point of appeal for any ecclesiastical judgment). In addition, it oversees the administration of justice in the Church.

The current Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura (since June 27, 2008) is Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, previously Archbishop of St. Louis, Missour and Bishop of La Crosse, Wisconsin............
