Lots of stuff coming out about defection you have to take with a grain of salt and this proofs it.

Thierry Meyssan (french journalist who exposed 9/11, Lybian, etc), who is actually in Syria, has said recently that the western elites might have abandoned the idea of overthrowing Syria by force and escalating it all by ground invasion. They will however continue to weaken it through low to middle intensity civil war, since it weakens the sino-russian axis.
