While I do see some applications for this in it's current state (which is technically nothing new under the sun), their end goal to create a separate internet is unrealistic and counterproductive. They are setting up a network which many people have at home. They set up WLAN's, host local software and servers and use an ISP's WAN to sync up with a back-end server. The key is that you will always need a backbone to access the existing internet, unless you want to recreate all the services the existing internet provides. Not sure what his name was but he made a good point when he mentioned that the existing internet should be reformed. We need to find a way to use the existing internet and ensure privacy over there. I think that in the near future this will be taken care of though. Several options are already available like VPN's, encryption, and decentralizing information. I am sure new ideas will come up as the demand for privacy on the internet is increasing. Last Edited by Psych on 07/20/2012 08:02 AM |
