There is an effect that happens when there are too many cameras, call it the Truman Show effect that makes people behave differently that in a normal non-camera situation. There was a PBS series called "An American Family," in the 1970s that discovered an effect something like the above. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 20078449 United States07/20/2012 09:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | he current "gun control" climate in many states in which open carry and concealed carry is restricted and discouraged gives potential criminals the ADVANTAGE, because they know there is probably only ~1% chance than other citizens are carrying. The 'solution' (or, rather, preventative) to situations like this is that MORE citizens be armed at all times. Imagine if there was a cop in the theater within feet of the perpetrator. He would have taken him out before a massacre could occur. So...the ideal situation is that a large percentage (at least 5-20%+) of the population is carrying at all times. This puts potential criminals at a SIGNIFICANT disadvantage, having to consider the very likely possibility that other citizens are carrying. It will not increase crime or makes us less safe...but rather significantly reduce crime, and make us safer. |
