It was just a small spider, about the size of a bottle cap (including legs) but it had freaky sideways fangs - four on each side. What's going on with spiders this week??? |

This one was pretty big and substantial. Not one of those thin legged suckers, like a baby tarantula, maybe a little larger than a bottle cap but thick too! I've had similar hallucinations all my life. I remember thinking when I was 4 that they couldn't be real because I wouldn't be able to see them so well in the dark. Funny thing, I'm not at all scared of spiders. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8392006 I have never had this happen ever. Now sometimes I think I see something out of the corner of my eye or whatever, but nothing like this. I even thought "good thing I woke up to see it or it would be in here and I wouldn't know it..." but then it wasn't there at all! Sometimes..I am so convinced there is a huge spider..I keep screaming till I wake my husband..I then make him look just to make sure. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17629467 LOL husbands are good for something I guess! Bug rescues and taking out the trash. ;) |

I woke up to see my bedroom walls covered in writing, it looked like hebrew, or asain letters, they faded away after about 10 seconds but would kinda flash when i blinked... That's happened about 3 times up to date. Now what really freaks me out...I've awoken twice now and hallucinated a large orb floating up twords the ceiling, it looked like it was composed of articulately entwined buck antlers forming a perfect sphere and had a crimson glowing light in the center of it, the second time i saw one the orb in the center was a blueish green light. They faded away after like 5-7 seconds but it had me pretty freaked... Last Edited by Mortal Epiphany on 07/21/2012 12:45 AM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 20158215 United States 07/21/2012 12:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just woke from a nap and hallucinated a giant, thick, fuzzy black spider! Scared the crap out of me and WOKE ME RIGHT UP! Quoting: scorpio66 Anyway, I was all snoozy and cozy, woke up ahead of my alarm, glanced at the time on the clock (saw it accurately - I KNOW I was awake), then past the clock on my bedside table I SWEAR I saw a gigantic spider crawling on my cell phone. Scared me to death and I became instantly wide awake. I couldn't see it so I kept staring and staring and finally reached out and turned the light on. No spider! Looked everywhere. It was SO REAL. Anyway, I Googled first and it's apparently one of the most common hallucinations? Who knew. Then someone mentioned "kundalini shakti" and I thought, oh gosh, I need to ask GLP! They'll know! So... anyone got any ideas on WTF? Is my brain about to short circuit or something?? It was the size of a baby tarantula and I surely would've been able to find that sucker if it was actually there. I've never had anything like this happen before. Yes,I jumped out the bed look at the wall wasn't sh!t there Felt like a dumb ass,it seemed real tho |

Most people who have these almost always report seeing spiders...Why spiders i wonder?? I've never seen spiders but I'd prefer them over the antler orbs anyday... |

Dimensional sleeping is sometimes seeing into a dimension we cannot see while we are awake...We wake up before that dimension has left...Then here is the Spider... I mean, I don't like them or anything, but I expect them to be around and am not goofy if I see one or anything. Maybe it's scary so you wake up for some reason. Who knows. I hope it was a one time thing tho, that's for sure. As long as it's not something wrong in the ol' brain I guess. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 18907471 United States 07/21/2012 01:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My autistic son used to have night terrors when he was little, he'd be awake, but asleep, and screaming and freaking out because he'd see giant, black spiders all over his ceiling and the walls. It was so awful to see him go through that, but I just tried to talk him down and be there for him. I'd turn on the lights and eventually he'd calm down and go right back to sleep. He and I were discussing it the other day and he still remembers it, over 10 years ago it was. I have had experiences where I am asleep, but I think my eyes were open and I was seeing things that weren't there and I once saw a large man standing near my bed, and I woke up screaming so loud and turned on the light. Turned out those issues were caused by sleep apnea, makes the brain lack oxygen and go haywire. Thank God it got better, it was awful, the nightmares were so terrible. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 14011374 United States 07/21/2012 01:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've had the spider hallucinations my whole adult life. As a teen I would wake up paralyzed for a few minutes. As an adult it has mostly been spiders but occasionally it is worse, setting people. I used to think they were ghosts or robbers. When it happens I feel out my family because I'll go from laying down sleeping to running through the house chasing people that aren't there. Lol. Anyway, check with your doctor about idiopathic hypersomnia. It's similar to narcolepsy but they don't know what causes it. The spider hallucinations are pretty common for us though. |
