So this James Holmes - Why would they even consider blowing up the APT? What about the evidence!
Update: Earlier today - on CNN and FoxNews, there was a LOT of talk about the bomb squad performing a controlled detonation on the apartment of James Holmes - which would DESTROY the evidence. This was most of the talk this morning (EST). They have since gained entry and hopefully preserved most, if not all, of the evidence within the home.

Original Post from this morning:

I don't get it. Why would they blow it up and sacrifice the evidence they could find. Why can't they send in a robot or go in through a Neighbor's wall? You can't tell me that we deal with this kinda shit in Iraq/Afghanistan for 20 years, and we don't have the ability to get into a dorm room... I'm not buying that it's so booby-trapped, that they can't gain entry. If this kid can build it, they can work around it.

Pop bottles with unknown liquid. Balloons with powder in them, and wires all visible from outside. You can't tell me they cant get a robot in through a wall to dig around.

Or how about another angle - They already said he was the smartest kid in the PHD program, so lets just say he's borderline genius. We know that he basically GAVE HIMSELF UP without a firefight. Wouldn't they think he'd have hidden this shit out of sight were he really trying to blow up his own APT if someone entered?

Maybe he planned this. Maybe he knew they'd blow it up and he has some type of biological agent in his apt, hoping they see everything and blow up his place, inadvertently dispensing whatever said agent is inside.

The same reason they blew up the house in San Diego, destruction of evidence.

I didn't know they blew it up. Seems over the top. I can't imagine a motive for a young man to do this unless he was being controlled.

There had to be others there to make sure it happened like planned.

I'd be more likely to believe they wanted to destroy any evidence of the others (controllers) involvement.

If he was a student there would be notes, schedules, associates, people he worked with that need to be protected....

Possibly Holmes was suspicious of what was happening to him, he was (as they said) trying to leave the school.....and the whole DOD financed program he was in.

Think of it as killing many "birds" with one stone--they silence and totally control him, destroy all evidence, conduct their ritual, divert our attention, and darken what was a surprisingly uplifting movie. Yes --saw it last night and really liked it.hf

That is the *only* possible thing i can think of. It simply does not make sense. There are multiple victims - and this thing is ALL over the news.

If he had the ability to put this together and plan it out, and he booby trapped the apt, they *need* to gain entry and access to his computers, cell phone, etc. They need to know if he had anything else planned out.

My gut tells me there's more - either more people involved, more devices, etc.

Its too damn creepy that he was armored up and yet gave up without a firefight. I could see if he had been shot once, or shot at, but that isn't even the case... Its like his surrender was also planned, and that isn't right.

If he is genius level, this had to be a chess game for him.

I think there's a motive... I don't think he just snapped. Unless they find evidence that he had a recent traumatic event in his life, I just don't think he "snapped".

We know he was obsessed with V for Vendetta and the occupy movement, right? I can't think of any reason why he would do something like this *on his own* - it doesn't make sense from a tactical standpoint. He'd just be signing his own death warrant, and nothing would change. I can't see this "genius" level kid making that type of stupid mistake.

However, I could see him being 1 cell in a group of multiple cells taking action - "waking up the sheep" who are at the movies. Collateral damage in "his" effort to wake up the world. That's more where I think the angle is. I could be totally wrong, but it makes more sense to me.

This whole thing also reminds me of a uwe boll movie - Rampage.

Its about a kid who gets all dressed in body armor and shoots up his ENTIRE town - including blowing up the police dept.

I think there's more to the story.

And why did Aurora's police Chief initially say 14 people had been killed: 10 at the scene and four others reported by hospitals.

At some point that was revised to be 10 at the scene and two reported by hospitals.

How and why was this number revised?

This guy had an entire college labratory at his disposal, if there are possible biological agents in there, it makes NO sense to blow it up, thereby dispersing it...

With our technology there are ways to get around these boobie-traps...

This stinks to high heaven...

The wouldnt blow it up, Im sure that every federa police and intelligence agencies in America are involved right about now. They would want all of the evidence they can get to determine if any international involvement, who etc. whether its local and isolated or part of a greater conspiracy, political motivation, homegrown terrorism, or just one person acted in isolation. Lots of questions, little in the way of answers for now.

Wouldnt want to be a member of the bomb squad right now. Can you imagine, hey I got all of the trip wires. CLICK uh no dude no you didnt

No, his loud music was on a timer,
and went off before his terror attack.
He also reportedly left his door unlocked.

Holmes HOPED that a neighbor would open the door and set
off explosions (yeah, he'd kill that person, too).

The apartment was meant to be a DISTRACTION to explode and
make the Police respond at his apartment, so he'd have more
time to kill more people at the movie theater.
