I updated the original post. The talk on the TV this morning (EASTERN TIME AM) was that they were planning a controlled demo to burn up the IEDs inside the building. I didn't just make this up - it was the active topic this morning on the national news - maybe you're in a diff time zone and woke up to other news, but that's what it was here... When I made the topic, it was 100% valid.

I've already said I'm thrilled they didn't blow it and ruin the evidence. That evidence might be KEY, if this guy wasn't working alone and is part of a domestic terrorist cell or something.

The part that is so uneasy for me is that the kid is incredibly intelligent. It would be easy for me is he was a dropout, or just had a domestic dispute and this was a heat of passion type crime - but this isn't that type of situation.

So.. I'm sorry, but I think a discussion surrounding demo'ing an apartment that contains evidence should be a last ditch option, only after you potentially lose a robot inside the building - is a valid topic of discussion. Again, I'm thrilled they didn't do something idiotic like demo the apt.

Wow, wouldn't that be nuts. If the shooter had someone else waiting there to get arrested, who was never part of the shooting! In the gas mask, i wonder if anyone could even validate who the shooter was.

Yeah. I'm trolling if trolling is trying to spread FACT when you are seriously making crap up. Sorry, I didn't just wake up to the news, I heard the sirens en route to the theater. I live in Aurora, not even 10 minutes away from this theater. I know whats going on here and I know exactly what was said about the explosives in his apartment. Oh by the way. They do have a robot to detonate it. You might want to look at the news and the press conference about 7PM last night...when they explained EXACTLY the plan.

If you're at ground zero, then give us some updates, otherwise, we just know what we're being fed by the MSM (which most of us have been glued to all day). What else do you know?

Have you spoken to any of the LEO or anyone else involved?
Do they believe it is truly just 1 shooter?
Do they think its an isolated incident, or do they think its part of a larger plan?

Probably would do you some good to see what our local media are being told by the authorities because last night they specifically addressed why they were stopping last night and not trying to defuse the bombs overnight. It was so they would not destroy evidence.

There is no second shooter. It is not part of a larger plan according to what we have been told. I am not in the media and LEO's are not talking to anyone right now but the media and state officials as well as other law enforcement. Our local CBS station as well as our local newspaper (whose name I cannot post on GLP but it is our largest newspaper and not hard to find the name of on an search engine) has cameras and live updates coming from his apartment. The first wire was tripped, the second one caused an explosion.

He has put gun powder over the entire apartment so right now they are trying to not have an explosion because they will lose the evidence. Pictures have been taken from the entrance of his door as well as from the windows they broke out of what he has built. Those pictures are not being released to the public until at least monday when he is arraigned in court at 8:30 AM. This is also when the sheriff will release his mug shot.

As of last night 4 buildings of the Anshwich medical campus were also evacuated due to him entering one of those buildings a day or 2 before this happened.

There are 4 other apartment buildings including his own evacuated right now. The last update from police was they were hoping those people would get to return home tomorrow morning but that was only under the condition they had the evidence and there was no danger.

They used the sprinkler system before they started anything this morning because of the gun powder. They said if there was even 1 spark it could lite gunpowder which would cause it all to explode.....That is one of the things that have taken them so long to get in and going there today.

The detonation robot was taken off the scene later last night because its battery had to be fully charged and they did not want to take the chance of losing battery when they were in the middle of sending it in. The robot was put back in place this morning after they had wet the apartment with the sprinklers.

My thoughts exactly! I'm, thinking the evacuated buildings and "complicated" nature of the booby traps have them covered timewise to do a lot of internal investigation. I think this guy and his organization caught tptb off guard. They are trying to figure out who and what they are dealing with.

Whatever questions you have I will answer with whatever information I have.

One thing I will tell you, the MSM is dramatizing and reporting on things that are just not true. First they were saying the wrong name...some guiteriez guy...then tied the guy to the Tea Party which they had to retract on. My husband works at Children's Hospital which is one of the places victims were taken. Across the street from his hospital is a media circus. Its all MSM too. They are hounding people...anyone they can get...to talk to them. Our community is pretty ticked off about that right now. This is the same way the MSM did right after the Columbine Shootings in Littleton. They had to give them a whole park across from the high school...and now with the shootings they are pretty much taking up an entire parking lot in front of the childrens hospital.

so basically the MSM is entirely hampering any effort made by your community to sell ratings. typical.

There are many questions about where he got his gear, weapons and ammo as well as how he paid for it.

All of his guns were bought at local gun shops. The long guns he had that were bought at Gander Mountain and Bass Pro Shops. Within the past 3-4 weeks he had been buying ammo from the internet and they have confirmed he had more than 6000 rounds available. One of the clips they found in the theater was a 100 round which they did find in theater number 9.

The latest update about what more has been found in his apartment are what were described as "sophisticated explosive devices" similar to what would be found at large firework shows. They are saying that it appears he has done something to these to modify them and that is one reason why after tripping the second wire they are moving much more slowly.

All fireworks are illegal in Colorado but people here just go to Wyoming and you can get just about anything firework-wise there. In fact, I'm thinking that being that its so soon after the 4th I would imagine that is where he bought them.

They do know that his "plan" concerning his apartment blowing up did not work like he wanted it to. He rigged it to where it would play loud music and left his door unlocked and just pulled shut. The music started playing when it was timed and two of the chemicals in 2 liter bottles did mix but it did not explode.

His plan was to get the loud music to play, have people call the cops on him and have the cops just walk in and trip the wire which would cause the explosion. That would give him more shooting time at the theater.

They are...it's terrible. They did it with Columbine too. When I went to put flowers at the Columbine memorial I had to walk through droves of media just to get to the memorial.

We are being told there was no second shooter, there have been reports of one or at least a "helper" because of what also happened in theater 8. The people who were shot in theater 8 were all along the wall that is next to theater 9 and the bullets came through the wall. There are also reports there was smoke or whatever he threw in theater 8 too. The ventilation systems in Century 16 are being checked to see if that is the reason theater 8 was so smokey was because the smoke was pouring through the vents into the other theater rooms.

One thing that has been confirmed with our community is that he was on unemployment and he did pay for a least some of his gear with credit cards. They have not stated if it was all paid for with credit cards (but we all know unemployment isn't enough to pay for all of this). Our local news tallied up how much all that would cost that he was wearing and it was a pretty massive amount in my opinion. My question is where did he get the money to pay for all of it? 6000 rounds of ammo alone is expensive as hell, let alone all the other stuff he had.

6000 rounds of ammo isn't as expensive as you might think. you can get 1000 .223 for like 200 bucks. Those 100 round cap snail mags aren't incredibly reliable, either, because he probably got the cheaper version of it.

with unemployment, and credit cards, all of this stuff is well within reach of someone with 5000 in credit cards.

He didn't care. I think he was proud of what he had done. If you listen to this you can hear when they saw him. Its like he was just sitting waiting for them to come get him.

That's true. I am sure he could have that much credit available...especially since he had been in a PhD program. I don't know if its really true but they say college students can easily get credit cards.

its true. at my university, the CC companies used to have a table outside the school bookstore during "welcome week". They would happily help you get your first credit cart with stupid high interest rates. granted, this was at 18 yrs old, and they were only giving like 1500 CC limits, but by 24, I'm sure he could easily get 5-10k.

That's pretty sad its so easy! I bet thats how he paid for it all then. I have wondered if he at least had help financing it all. In fact that is what our whole community is questioning most right now because they have told us he acted alone. It just seemed like a lot for someone his age with no job to be able to buy with no other help.
