James Holmes: What Happened To Change This Nice Kid Into A Mass Murderer?

I hope in the next few weeks we are able to find out what happened to him. Whether it was drugs, or political radicalism gone to an extreme, or long periods of depression and negative thinking until he finally blew up? I would like to know.

He was one of six recipients of a Neuroscience Training Grant from the National Institutes of Health, which funds pre-thesis Ph.D. students in the neuroscience program at the nschutz Medical Campus.

People in professions of studying the human brain and disorders seem to snap more than the regular population as well.

He wasn't in Denver to that long. I think the snap started before but then but grew. I think he went off meds. and someone at the college noticed, reported him, the college did a health/mental review ( lesson learned from VT) and asked him to withdraw. That was @ a monthe before this happened.

I think it may have been those ideas of subjective experience and temporal allusion floating around in his head.

Having been there myself, I have to agree! But I think it's much worse now..

Maybe he was too smart and maybe he began to know too much??? That sort of thing seems to intimidate those that seek to control..

He graduated from Riverside with top honors according to the Dean. He went from that to where he is today in one year!!

It does seem like a different person. Will be interesting to see which one of the two shows up in court on Monday.

He also participated in a multiple-year personality study conducted by Dr. Henry Murray, an expert on stress interviews.[12]

Students in Murray's study were told they would be debating personal philosophy with a fellow student.[13] Instead they

were subjected to a "purposely brutalizing psychological experiment"[13] stress test, which was an extremely stressful, personal, and prolonged psychological attack. During the test, students were taken into a room, strapped into a chair and connected to electrodes that monitored their physiological reactions, while facing bright lights and a two-way mirror.

Each student had previously written an essay detailing their personal beliefs and aspirations: the essays were turned over to an anonymous attorney, who would enter the room and individually belittle each strapped-down student based in part on the disclosures they had made. This was filmed, and students' expressions of impotent rage were played back to them several times later in the study. According to author Alston Chase, Kaczynski's records from that period suggest he was emotionally stable when the study began. Kaczynski's lawyers attributed some of his emotional instability and dislike of mind control to his participation in this study.[13][14] Indeed, some have suggested that this experience may have been instrumental in Kaczynski's future actions
