Marine Corps just created 3 LAW ENFORCEMENT BATTALIONS (1500 marines total)
Just created the first law enforcement battalions (3 battalions of 500 military police and dozens of dogs) - able to deploy (quickly) worldwide for investigation of crimes, including terrorism/drug trafficking and train other security forces for allies.

-handling detainees
-carrying out forensic work
-deploy/use biometrics to identify suspects
-able to assist local authorities in allied countries (notice the specification of "allied") ( securing crime scenes/building cases)
-eliminating mistakes that allow criminals back out on the streets instead of behind bars (sounds good right? who wants criminals on the street)

Yes, but this is different. This is warfighting and controlling populations in one package. They are putting the human element of intelligence gathering together with the iron fist in a velvet glove in a single unit.

It is a model for a broadly capable (to their thinking) counter insurgency unit.

Lol. This is just so the infantry can start focusing on their job in country and stop being the world police. While I was there we had to operate by collecting evidence, running sources, building cases along with clearing ops, security patrols, and hard hits. I have NEVER met another Marine that would think about turning their own rifle on the American public regardless of who is giving the order but I guess we'll see what happens, doom on.rockon
