Not-so-BREAKING: I am sad to say that most of us are going to be dead in the next 10 - 20 years. Including many GLPers.

Well, I saw a thread the other day where a scienist was saying he believes we are 20 years away from immortality.

If that truly is the case, and we will be living 2-3 times, maybe even 20 times longer, the elite will want to dwindle the population down. Can't really have 8 billion immortal beings breeding.

If we find the source of immortality, it will be controlled by the elite few. However, space exploration will again become a possibility.

Theoretically immortality will come from mapping the human genome, and taking out the imperfections with genetic engineering (thus making our offspring, not us, immortal), replicating the brain including memory as AI, or nano-technology with a focus on creating cyborgs.

Death is a ceasing of organs resulting in "brain death". Taking organic organs out of the equation...well... the problem with that is replacing the organs, you'd have to replace the veins. You'd need a way to circulate and oxygenate the blood to keep the brain saturated in it.

We'd need to come up with a chemical way of preserving the brain without diminishing the synapses, and a mechanical way of remaining mobile.

I'd say 30 - 50 years to BEGIN on this technology.

Using logic, how can anyone really disagree about your assessment or prediction or prophecy regarding our collective future.

The good news is that, although Western education has the world in its grip, and that logic is the cornerstone to Western education, the wild card is that we have deduced a universe from logic alone. And that universe simply does not exist.
