James Holmes studied Temporal Illusions to "change the past."
James was studying Temporal Illusions and wanted to "carry on" his mentor's work.

He discusses using the technique to "change the past."

Is this an experiment he is conducting? Did he commit his crime as the ultimate test?

Did he perhaps delve too deep into his psyche, the subconscious, or the unknown, and lose himself?

This is fucking crazy and gave me goosebumps when I watched it.

What if he got lost in his own temporal illusion? Or what if he is testing his theories now? What if he killed these people with the attempt to reverse it (in his head?)?

Maybe thats why he wore all that armor, because he wanted to survive his "experiment"

damned

If he wanted to prove something like that, I think he could have come up with a less horrifying and evil experiment. How about unspilling a can of beer or something?

Re: James Holmes studied Temporal Illusions to "change the past."
[link to en.wikipedia.org]
from the article:

A temporal illusion is a distortion in sensory perception caused when the time between the occurrence of two or more events is very short (typically less than a second). In such cases a person may misperceive the temporal order of the events. The kappa effect is a form of temporal illusion verifiable by experiment[16] whereby time intervals between visual events are perceived as relatively longer or shorter depending on the relative spatial positions of the events. In other worlds, the perception of temporal intervals appears to be directly affected, in these cases, by the perception of spatial intervals. The Kappa effect can be displayed when considering a journey made in two parts that take an equal amount of time. Between these two parts, the journey that covers more distance will appear to take longer than the journey covering less distance, even though they take an equal amount of time.

Neuroscience is nothing if you dont know where the outside electro magnetic pulses are coming from

Re: James Holmes studied Temporal Illusions to "change the past."
Here is a link to a paper written by his mentor, John Jacobson and two other guys.
It's called Perceived luminance depends on temporal context
[link to papers.cnl.salk.edu]

We report here a novel illusion in which temporal relationships
affect brightness perception. Two flashes appeared on either side of
a fixation point: one was brief (56 ms), the other long (278 ms;
Fig. 1a). Observers reported which flash appeared brighter. When
flashes of identical luminance had simultaneous onset, subjects
reported that the brief flash looked dimmer than the long flash

Could someone translate?

I think someone "flipped" the memories on this guy's own head and turned him into a psycho killer. His background seems "normal" then in the past few months he went down hill quickly. What if he stumbled upon some info or something that he wasn't supposed to see/hear/know and became a loose end they needed to tie up??

Temporal Illusions is fucking lame. Read actual papers on it and you'll see that it has nothing to do with mind control or anything even related.

Yeah,so how do they think he got that neuroscience grant? I heard they only give out 6.

Sounds like dude is trying to distance himself from him.

Too bad that slide show literally says:

James Holmes

Computational Neurobiology Lab

Dr. Terrence Sejnowski

Mentor John Jacobson

James Holmes' mentors--- Terrence Sejnowski and John Jacobson--- have LOTS of explaining to do.

The folks at Chickenstock Inst. are getting sloppy-- but then they have never been as smart as they are evil.
