Back when I was in college the various negroid student associations used to hold confrences in the main student plaza. I'd stop and listen sometimes. There was one puzzling satement on racism most all used to parrot. Racism, according to them, was equal to power. Since negroids and other minorities didn't have any power, they could no be racist. Notice that the Pope in 1445 allows slavery; and that slaves were brought to BRITISH North America. After The war of independence, The founders wrote the Declaration of Independence; in which they wrote "All men are created equal" to set up the frame work to remove slavery.

Anyone notice the irony here? The was British rule that brought slavery to the US. It was not the will of the US to enslave. The Declaration was basically, a letter of intent to King George; the intentions to free the slaves was written in it. It also became the locus for all equality in the US, over time, women's right's, voting rights etc..

What does all of this mean? The descendants of slaves in the USA are angry against the wrong people; it was the Catholic church that gave the ok for slavery, it was a British mandate that brought slaves to the US; but it was the newly founded USA that liberated slaves after winning it's independence, and declared all men are created equal.

If you are held in a prison does it make sense to be mad at the person that frees you? Not in the least; but that's what has happened here with slavery. Yes, the Founding of the original 13 British colonies were very slave oriented, but the were always abolitionist's fighting against it; and after the war of independence slaves were freed.

If it was not for the US fighting and winning Independence; and becoming the USA there probably would still be slavery in the British States of America; because there wouldn't have ever been a USA, this would have stayed a British colony like India, like Hong Kong was until recently, or like Ireland still is.

These are the facts, sadly people take history as being completely different; and think that the US was always the USA, and that the US had slavery from the very beginning for over 200 years. True it did in the very beginning while the new government was being set up and gaining stability, the Southern states were hard to wrangle into the new government, they were trying to succeed and the civil war stalled the newly formed USA after it won it's independence, soon after all of this war and turbulence ended and the actual USA was born slavery ended.
