Just an FYI update. Roughly five days after the initial reaction (and as anticipated) James relapsed. Fever spiked to 104, rash appeared on hands and legs, and he started babbling uncharacteristically.

Daughter took him to hospital, where they ran a spinal tap for meningitis, as well as numerous other painful tests, after which they told her he had some sort of serious (nameless) viral issue, and let her take him home.
