Hi, I lived in Phoenix from 89 to 94 and never ever did I experience a haboob, or anything remotely close to one. Yes, we had monsoon weather which had some serious lightening and rain, but that is about it. Maybe I lived there in off years, but nonetheless no haboobs during that period.

My point is that I do not think the Haboobs are normal in general.

doom? I think not! It's normal down in phoenix.. And it wasn't even that bad because I was driving with no problem. Didn't even rain much either.

During monsoon season we have 2 or 3 haboobs a year. It's always been this way and it's really no big deal. They usually pass fast and you just hang where you are until it's over.
