wnder what it means?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1430060

It means, that unless drastic action is taken, and by that, I mean relocation of a viable breeding colony to Antarctica in the Southern hemisphere, in two or three years, our friends the polar bear will be no more.
 Quoting: Flaming Sword 20431243

Sure is good to see you around. Have been thinking of you and hoping you are well. rose

Hope anyone who says the polar bears could be wiped out, is wrong. How horribly sad that would be. Such a mess we've made.
 Quoting: Nine's

Dear Nine's I am doing well and I ope that you are too.
I saw an Attenborough doco on the Arctic circle just the other day, according to him, the bears rely on the ice floes to be able to hunt seal. No ice, and there is the potential risk that the bears will either drown as they run out of ice, or simply starve as they have no ability to hunt.

Even when the ice reforms, it must be of sufficient thickness to bear the weight of the bear.

Best wishes to you...hf

All the way on the bottom.

"Ice cores from Summit show that melting events of this type occur about once every 150 years on average. With the last one happening in 1889, this event is right on time," says Lora Koenig, a Goddard glaciologist and a member of the research team analyzing the satellite data.

Personally, would love to see some high res pics of the ice melting, beautiful blue water. hf

PS: I have never figured out how they figure when everything melts. How do you tell me how much snow I had this year by measuring next years. In other words... the evidence literally evaporates if tear is a huge melt event, how do they know ?

derailed??..gee you lose easy shill..all i did was question you flaming anyone who didnt agree with you and al gore..you consistently mentioned AGW nothing else..and then when questioned you say you believe other things are causing it as well..you have gone home because someone with answers has made you look like a hypochondriac doomster..

NASA are lying sacks of shit..same with NOAA..same with any of the alphabet groups..you dont believe their crap on anything else so why the fuck do people fall for this worldwide government control mechanism??

if the government agrees with something then thats a fucking red light to me..do they ever do anything for us?? answer is NO!!

we are entering a cooling period..look above at the big yellow thing in the sky..THAT controls our planets climate..not cow farts and car exhausts..we are mere pissy humans who do not have the power to change the worlds temperatures and we sure as fuck dont have the power to cool it down either if we had to.. especially via a fucking TAX!

The article says the surface melted a bit. It didn't say the entire ice sheet melted. Just the surface. And melted a bit. Didn't say how much of the surface melted, like in inches or feet or meters. Or did it?

How thick is the Greenland ice sheet, and what would Greenland look like if all the ice had melted. Would it look like a flat plain without definition?

Average ice thickness is about 5,000 feet / 1,500 meters, but the northern dome had a depth of up to 11,000 feet / 3,400 meters.

2 miles thick at its thickest. Greenland probable looks like a pancake underneath from the massive weight of ice compressing everything. Good place to hunt for diamonds in a couple hundred years when its gone. NASA... only thing they do now is publish green agenda supporting data. Poor bastards, obama took everything from the most important government agency in existence. Should have cut FDA and EPA and given it all to NASA. Ahhh to dream...

Wasn't it James McCanney who said that the volcanism under Greenland was increasing? And the same thing from under the ocean floor, that undersea volcanism is also increasing, heating up the oceans just a tad

look at the map.

reading the other threads. a couple comments stick out, like, 'check this winter's ice cap size, bigger than normal' (which i will do) and 'if greenlands ice melts we gain 27 feet of sea level globally.'

would really like someone to explain to me how global warming is a myth. i don't get it, never did, never really plugged into the global warming thing....just paying attention.
 Quoting: Anne O'Mally

Its not the "Global Warming"/"Climate Change" itself... The question is whether or not it is caused by humans. Its up to you to investigate and determine whether or not that is the case. There certainly are those who insist humans are at fault, but I would question their motives. I would investigate and scrutinize their claims. Don't be a follower, don't jump on bandwagons. Do your own research and no one will be able to lie to you.

It means it was very warm 4 days in a row.. and some of the surface melted.. and it has happened before.. on average of 150 year cycle.. sorta like a spring thaw where i'm from.. the trouble would be if it continued for an extended period of time.. this is fear mongering..
