The authorities have received no intelligence; they are in a race against time but don't yet know it. As the operation unfolds, we see the working lives of men and women directly affected by terrorism. Among them: a firemen worried about the increasingly dangerous conditions he and his men are expected to work under; the head of the anti-terrorist branch whose responsibility it is to protect London and a female Muslim detective brought into Scotland Yard to investigate another suspected terrorist cell. But it is too late to stop the attack. Outside Liverpool Street station suicide bombers detonate a large bomb, killing scores of commuters and sending a radioactive plume high into the morning sky. For the police, a desperate struggle to find and stop secondary attacks begins. For the fire service, the difficult and dangerous task of carrying out search and rescue in a heavily contaminated area. And for emergency service controllers, a mammoth operation to contain and decontaminate thousands of terrified people caught up in the aftermath of the explosion. Based on extensive research, DIRTY WAR asks whether as a nation we are prepared to face such an attack. A creepy film for sure. Why they choose this week to play it i have no idea. But it is well worth the watch. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1097481 United Kingdom 07/25/2012 10:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If TPTB would REALLY pull such a thing off on Friday (for ex. with the "missing" 500kT from the german submarine), how big of a blast radius/calculation time/explosive yield would such an explosion cause? Quoting: pray_Italy Just to understand, what range would cause: - instant death (for ex.: up to 1 mile within 2 seconds); - destruction of most buildings (for ex. up to 3 miles within 8 seconds); - moderate damage to buildings; - 1st degree burns; - survival/uncontaminated area for the first 10 minutes of the explosion (wind direction etc) You see where I am going with this, right? Just to understand the "safe area" for the explosion.... Thanks That really is the most "anal" question ever posed on here. There is no "SAFE AREA" for a nuclear explosion. You are either in it or not. The factors that control devastation from a nuclear device would be altitude of detonation, size of detonation, and wind direction. Being only a few miles from the stadium I will be sure to let you know if it happens. |
