Programming is like being a hit man. If they are crooked enough to have money, and are willing to pay you, you don't want the job.

You'd think for all the clamoring these companies do about not being able to fill thousands upon thousands of jobs you'd have lots of offers. Of course we all know it's just the traitorous white male rich global American scabs.

Exactly. When someone is willing to do the job for 1/2 price and do it just as well... whey would anyone pay more?

I'm an older IT guy... 50+ and still working in the field, but I constantly think about losing my job and what I would do. Because I know finding another decent paying IT job at my age is going to be nearly impossible.

Try UTMB Galveston. Or actually many of the hospitals in Houston.

Good luck.

I doubt your are a programmer if you fail to mention your prefered languages, but thats just me.

What do you know C++, php? If you know something like that the demand isn't very high right now.

C# is where it's at.

It doesn't matter how much you know. It matters how much you can learn, adapt, and be independent. Good companies don't care about what languages you know. The #1 attribute in demand is ability to independently adapt and learn without hand holding. This is why so many college graduates can't find jobs, because colleges only reinforce hand-holding. The best ones don't go to school and are self-taught.
