Everything has to be a label to divide, doesn't it? By the term, our grandparents would be "preppers," for planning ahead for their families and securing enough food in the event of a crop failure. In the days ahead, there will be plenty of time for people to reflect on those notions, won't there? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 20517051 Thailand 07/25/2012 02:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hi, as many of you know I do what are now called "prepper" videos. Quoting: GaryMule I do however not consider myself a prepper. That term is a media term meant to send people like me into the fringe. I am simply a guy with a young family. With the world the way it is, the poison in our food, the evil of government we thought it would be a good idea to depend on ourselves. I do not see dates, or panic everytime the Dow goes down, I just slow and steady become more self sufficient. So how are you doing? Are you preparing for an "event" or jsut trying to get off the grid? By sharing your story, no details if you are worried, you might inspire others to prepare. So here are some things that I have done. 1)Moved from Southern CA 6 years ago. 2)Planted big garden 3)Bought guns, ammo, parts, mags 4)Store water and rain catch system 5)Got to know my neighbors! 6)Raise chickens for eggs, just killed a rooster (first time killing anything) 7)Pressure and water bath preserve garden 8)dehydrate garden 9)Became a paramedic 10)became a firefighter 11)train with above skills So how are you guys doing? I have a slim jim, bic lighter and a BB gun. |

GaryMule (OP) User ID: 935668 United States 07/25/2012 02:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ive just started to store some water and canned food. I'm wondering what to do with my money. saving it seems stupid because when the money is worthless it won't do me anygood. Quoting: Xannixon I would invest it into things with real value. Now that you have stored food, try to start growing your own. Maybe a water filter, berkey etc Do not get rid of all your cash, people will still take it over most things in an emergency. I use silver as a safe shelter for my $$ I buy on the lows and sell on the highs. I bought at 20 sold near 50 and that is how I had enough monoey for my chicken coop. First things first: water, food, shelter (warmth in winter), and a way to protect these things |

I live in a farming community, lots of older farmers out here, they all this grow a garden. They remember the lean times growing up during and right after the depression |

Psh you laugh, but I'm gonna be chilling out with a nice cup of basil lemonade whilst the world is going haywire! :D Quoting: muffin_van Do you live near a place where you might guerilla garden? |

There is a place where one can rent a garden plot but haven't had the money to do so yet. Thinking of trying a vertical planter tho- like those tomato plants? |
