Strange Crows Hovering in North County San Diego
Tonight I was having dinner and noticed one of the strangest incidences with crows I have ever witnessed. It looked like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Crows in hundreds circling over Encintas, the same place we had that strange smell. I'm not sure if birds can sense earthquakes, but what I saw tonight was very eerie!

Re: Strange Crows Hovering in North County San Diego
You must ask yourself what they are feeding on. If they are gathering, they must have a food source. A crow will eat scraps of just about anything. They like just about anything a human has left and they will also eat carrion.

When one very young crow finds food, it could be quiet and eat it. It might do that, but then an older crow might appear and chase it away.

So it will call out to other young crows, "Here is food!"

Well in crow calls that is what it means. They will hear him but they will come and share in what he has found.

So if he keeps quiet he might get to eat as much as he wants, but maybe not. He can't be sure he might be watched, then he gets nothing.

So it is better in the long run to call out to other crows and share than to try to eat alone.

I think there might be a lesson in that for people, especially in a SHTF situation. Maybe it is better to share with others who can protect you than to go alone and take chances of someone bigger coming along.

Off topic, but maybe not.

Twice a day a guy rides his bicycle past my balcony with his music blaring. It's usually some 70's-80's funkadelic tune.

Tonight he rides by with Carole King's "I feel the Earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tumblin' down, tumblin' down."

What I heard tonight was very eerie!

lol, i thought the same and was like wtf?
lmao

op, maybe the smell was a gas release in the ocean and perhaps we'll find dead fish in the area tomorrow and that's attracting the crows?

EDIT TO ADD:

I live in the area that had the 3.8 earthquake at 318am this morning.

Their patterns spanned several miles. I initially saw them driving and thought there was something they were all interested in. Then I drove another mile and there were much more. There were probably 500-1,000 crows and they were going from trees to roofs, etc.

I'm not claiming doom, I just thought it was extremely eerie!
