Did you know that sodium Fluoride is also one of the basic ingredients in both PROZAC (FLUoxetene Hydrochloride) and Sarin Nerve Gas (Isopropyl-Methyl-Phosphoryl FLUORIDE) - (Yes, folks the same Sarin Nerve Gas that terrorists released on a crowded Japanese subway train!).
Quoting: 5th Element Unbelievable shit. Sodium fluoride is NOT ingredient in prozac. The metallic halide- Sodium or potassium Fluoride is indeed dangerous. This is not the case with other compounds having bond with the fluorine atom. And ... so why do they put it in PRozac? Any various and sundry good reasons, besides ruining someone's brain and health? You fucking idiot. Prozac has three elemental FLUORINE atoms which cannot react with anything, bound to a methyl. This is not (free) metallic FLUORIDE which can react with different things in your body... Somebody, just unpin this shit, mmkay? Ooh, and the reason for the use of fluoro-compounds in medicine (that is, not the metallic fluorine) is that the fluorine group acts similiarly than hydroxyl group, but is inactive. It can be used for blocking metabolism because of its inactivity and for the greater affinities to receptors/enzymes. Because its size is small, body usually regards it as an hydrogen. So now you know. As for the metallic fluoride, I would keep away. But regarding several aryl compounds which are generally safe to you I wouldn't hesitate to (ab)use.
