Now listen people, there is no doubt that the United States is mystery babylon. The bible says this new mystery babylon will be so destroyed that not one single man will be left alive. God said just as i destroyed sodom and gamora, I too shall destroy babylon!

About a third of the way down the page. If you click on the push pin paper in the upper right of the post, it will go to a longer article, but you can only read half unless you click on their ad. It had the same links OP had in the first post. Didn't find anything reflecting the thread title. There were some figures about areas of drought and it mentioned 53 percent. I just skimmed. You might get more out of it. Maybe it's on one of the .gov links. I didn't look there.

Feel better soon! hf

US population
1930. 122,000,000
2012. 330,000,000

Fact is crop yields are reduced over 70% for 2012
Fact breeding cattle are being slaughtered at an all time record high
Fact meat production will be decreased by over 50% and may never fully recover

1930 zero crops used as fuel fact
2012 43% of US crop lands used for biofuels

1930 25% of the population lived on farms
2012. Less than 1% of populations lives on farms

1930. Over 90% of all Americans had basic knowledge of agriculture
2012 less than 17% of Americans have basic agricultural knowledge

It's like a super super bug..
At first it will be a few coughs....
But before it's done it will kill millions....

Just wait and see....
Get a garden people...
Get a water well....

Re: U.S. Government Now Officially Says 53% Food & Water Shortages 2012 - 2013
For reasons I won't go into, I believe as I prayed a few years ago that I heard in my spirit that we are going to live through what's described in Revelations chapter 6 verse 6:

"...I heard something like a voice among the four living creatures say, 'A quart of wheat for a day's wages and three quarts of barley for a day's wages..."

What's being described is food price inflation rising so high that you'll work all day and afford only a tiny bit of food. Hyperinflation's coming and we'll be working harder than we ever have just to exist.
 Quoting: telling it straight

Go adopt a farmer.

Invest in CSA's/Farmers' Coops, Farmers' Markets, Aquaponics & Square Foot Gardens.

Get the food locally before it goes to market.

When the credit & transportation systems break down, the food will stop flowing. But if you are buddies with the farmers/ranchers/grain silo operators/meat packers & other producers, you won't need such infrastructure.

Invest in non-GMO non-hybrid seeds & livestock feed, and prepare to barter.

You can store a year supply of drinking water in one swimming pool. Guard that pool, one day it could save your life. When water becomes scarce, you may want to cover it up to hide it from water thieves. But keep it clean & pure.

Your neighbors will be the first to steal from your supply.

Fear mongering
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19699679

BS.

Here in Indiana at least 1/3 of the corn crop has already been turned into silage. IE feed for cattle instead of letting it mature to corn, because it is already dead and brown from lack of water.

In Johnson county park the lake was so low and hot that there where THOUSANDS of fish deaths(11 miles from where I live).

You can did at least 8-10 foot down and there is ZERO moisture.During a normal year you would have moisture at around 6-8 inches.

We are under sever water restrictions with many reservoirs at historic lows.

No my friend, fear mongering is seeing an oncoming train and pretending it is just a pretty light.

People better wake the fuck up and prepare while they can.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20557536

The rise in food prices will be directly proportional to the severity of the drought, the availability of food imports, the quickness of opening new food import channels into the US to offset the lack of domestic food production, the strength of the USD, and investor & public sentiment.

Given enough compounding negative factors, and a perfect economic storm could be created where anything is possible.

Beware of normalcy bias, i.e. "It can't happen here!" Why? "Because it has never happened here!" So what? We're in uncharted territory here, and the forecast is not positive.

Anything is possible.

I heard that a lot of farmers have irrigation so it is only the ones that don't that lose their crops.
 Quoting: WindyMind

Please look at the bigger picture. Irrigation is not some miracle tap in the sky that produces an unlimited amount of free water from the Plane of Water.

With the record drought comes city water shortages, lowered lakes & aquifers, and Nazi draconian environmental laws & regulations against using lake & well water for irrigation.

Commercial irrigation is & will become more heavily regulated & restricted like it already is in Napa Valley. Many commercial farmers have already, or will be, banned from using irrigation for the foreseeable future.

This will lead to covert water usage and fines, which will lead to protests, farmer strikes/revolts, riot police and jail sentences, violence, etc.

It will be standard social unrest in response to a national emergency + the Police State typical responses. Especially in a severe drought, the State will assert its ownership & control over all water resources.

i'm damn near inclined on what the good book pointed out referencing rumors interalia those of war, strickening drought ( famine ) that will surely reach the rest of the world in Africa and the Middle East.

will the American public trade futures in food for oil, what-with a drought hitting the bread basket of America that use to feed the world?

when America 'grain supply shrinks', as it is absolutely positively doing right now - because cattlemen are having to 'buy feed grains' to feed their cattle' - unlike ever before - what do Americans suppose will happen to 'democracy' in starving third world underdeveloped nations within 1-year; how long will it take to feed people? people are going to die without U.S. Aid.

let's look at how nations like India - armed with Russian nuclear missiles - are going to react to feeding their populations that will be dying off from starvation?

how many nuclear bomb ultimatums of extortion will America receive for 'food'?

Americans thought al-Qaida / al Qaeda was bad? America government has no idea what will happen when faced with starving citizens in the U.S. that may even decide to return all latino border jumpers to Latin America while the whole of Europe tries sending muslims back to the Middle East.

it's going to be a very long Summer that will trail past Winter 2012.

Could you state your source for your claim that American farmers burn 30% of our corn crop especially since corn is the staple for feeding livestock and up to 30% is the ethanol that obama forces us to use in gasoline.

If there was a glut of corn on the market and farmers could not get the price they needed to make a profit then instead of selling at a loss they would not harvest the corn crop. Currently livestock are being fed beans because the price of corn has gone up and ranchers can no longer afford grain or corn to feed their livestock.

i don't agree with you because the NWS and NOAA says the U.S. drought is going to get 'doubly worse' than what it already is 'today', and by the following 'live interviews' on national news, it doesn't take a rocket-scientist to do the math analysis based on this:

[link to www.msnbc.msn.com]

thank you, though, for your expressed opinion telling us you're concerned enough about what is going on around you. Most folks are too busy making money to even realize there's more to life than 'work and play', and it's becoming more and more obvious - to people such as yourself - that there need to be more questions asked.

Unfortunately, the governments only provide 'soft answers' to cold hard realities and the ugly questions that raise their heads from time to time.

Again, thanks for your opinion. I was relieved to find out recently what burnt that big hole in our ozone layer - back in December 2004.

Feel better soon! hf
