I see plenty of land for sale for pasture etc, but you're not permitted to build anything more than a tiny shed. So was wondering how I can achieve what you've achieved? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1056657 You cant. Our slave masters have been at it longer and have made non reliance a crime |

We have 2 sons, one is 4, the other is 1. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 485160 We built our homestead from scratch, house and all. This is the second off-grid homestead we've built in the last decade. Our power comes from solar and wind. Our water is from rain catchment. We raise most of our food from gardens, chickens, rabbits, pigs, etc. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. You can follow our experiences here: [link to velacreations.com] your not off grid if you have internet imo |

Secondly...any source of power is traceable even if they aren't charging you for it. Therefore, you ARE on the grid. Remember that I told you this...because one day, they'll attempt to come looking for you. watching the "run up" to the elections and the "hopes and dreams" that are built as a result is like watching a dead mouse that is still able to make his exercise wheel go around because his nerves are still twitching that familiar motion... |

Just dig a hole, build a small wood closet on it and there you go.... when it's full cover it and dig another hole.. you get no smell also! DUH! God has no enemies! God is LOVE! Love is the most powerful weapon in the world. All who try to play God are wasting their time and will get kicked in the ass over and over again until they learn their lesson! PS. I'M HUNGARIAN! |
musicadi User ID: 1328754 Hungary 07/27/2012 07:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We had a documentary here about people living like that here in Hungary... it's perfectly possible. Although I don't think it's a good idea, unless nobody knows your exact location. Cause in a SHTF situation you can easily be targeted with no one to help you but yourself. I think to not rely on tap water, gas, electricity, having your own garden and animals will suffice.. of course assuming you're in the countryside. Cause in a city you're screwed either way. P.S. To all cretins with idiotic comments and questions: GO BURY YOURSELVES!!! God has no enemies! God is LOVE! Love is the most powerful weapon in the world. All who try to play God are wasting their time and will get kicked in the ass over and over again until they learn their lesson! PS. I'M HUNGARIAN! |

I posted information free to the public based on www.whois.com ownership of your site, just proving you're not off the grid from there I posted your base location as well as your unlisted telephone number; I found all in under 10 seconds. You removed my post, must be afraid of something. Silly boy. You don't piss me off, just know that people like you, think you know, when it comes down to sustainability, you're on the right track but a long ways off. You'll know it...I usually make an impression. |

Quoting: AndrewDSM I don't know what you are talking about, I haven't removed any posts, I don't even think I can. I know that we are a ways from being completely sustainable, but we're not that far off. The point of this thread was not to argue about the definition of "off-grid", but to illustrate how we live and why we live this way. We have tried to help people with our information to help others become more sustainable, and we get emails every day from folks who have found our information useful or inspiring. That is enough of a reward for me. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 20629709 Mongolia 07/27/2012 11:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Every connection regardless of prepay phones etc has an IP address. Even if your GPS is turned off, any cell active or not, can still be traced within 3 miles or so with any 911 call. Remember, if you have cash now, any new bills (a large enough quantity) with the silver band in them is traceable. Any blue tooth technology, any wireless remote control garage door openers, even flipping channels in your television, a wireless telephone. If there's wireless or infrared, you can be found. If your home has or ever had an aqua-duct well, guess what [link to water.usgs.gov] will probably have your location. If you have livestock and keep them and there is a water source nearby creek river pond etc, guess what, EPA is watching. If you have any vehicle your currently drive, your registered, some states even require bicycles! Do you carry any insurances? Any any subscriptions for medicine? There is more to keep off the grid than most people think. Good luck, and anyone with little effort can find anyone. Quoting: AndrewDSM Trust me, you are not off the grid. Living off the grid, and being completely undetectable are two vastly different things. I think most people's idea of living off the grid is to live free of any governmental or corporate utilities or other costly infrastructure. It's an independent lifestyle. For some, that may also include eschewing the banking system, welfare, social security, unemployment insurance, institutional loans, etc. Living undetectable is even harder than living off the grid. How do you have an address when the census bureau has GPS coordinates of your front door? You can't really hide if you have a 911-listed address. Do you have a mortgage or land title? There are things you can do to enhance your privacy though. You are right that your electronics will give you away, but so will your body heat when armed Predator drones are flying surveillance patterns over rural Amerika looking for "t3rr0r|sts", "m3th labs", "water and agriculture cheats", and "cattle rustlers." I've never seen any evidence the embedded security bands inside the FRNs are scannable/traceable. Do you have any evidence? What's an "aqua-duct well"? I didn't see anything on USGS about them. Living off-grid is hard, but living off-grid invisibly is so much harder. |

Like if one of the kids gets hurt and needs a few stitches for instance? I'll read through the thread...very interesting, would love to do the same. Quoting: geminilion Most cuts don't require stitches, they are used mainly for keeping a cleaned wound from getting dirty again, and to minimize scarring. If you keep most wounds clean, and use butterfly closures to keep them moderately closed, you will be just fine, in most cases. However, unless you are medically trained, you really need to consult qualified medical persons for their opinion before you decide to not get stitches. The biggest problem is avoiding infection. |

A person can also use anonymous power too. Trace-ability is a relative term. |
