The two albums they did with Elefant as singer are solid but not as good as the previous.They did another comeback in the 90s where Kerry Livgren played on a few tracks that was good too but didn't even come close to matching the genius of their 70's offerings . todays music sucks . even the new Rush cd sucks .

Who cares about the study. If you were intelligent enough you would see that the study is just really based on an opinion and point of view. Everyone has one so what does that prove? Nothing.

The lyrics and melodies of pop songs back a generation ago were pretty dumb as well. And some were brilliant. Just like today. That is also an opinion.

I don't think you needed an official study to figure that out. One look at guys like "Waka Flocka" and "Future" is proof enough. At least Waka admitted that he was shit and got out of music though. Whatever happened to bands like this that you could find everywhere?

Robert Fripp (guitarist of KC) is one of the most influential musicians to ever live, but unfortunately I doubt anyone on this thread has ever even heard of him. Bands like Genesis, Pink Floyd, Rush, etc., all considered him as a god in those days. Even Hendrix once said "This is the greatest band in the world!" Nowadays the only people that remember him are the underground bands (mostly experimental metal bands) like Between the Buried and Me or The Faceless.

The stuff you guys posted as "good" music isn't bad by any means, but it's some of the most mainstream stuff you can find that isn't terrible. If you want real art look up "Porcupine Tree Hatesong live," or "Between the Buried and Me selkies." These are the guys that still carry the old philosophies that brought about the revolutionary ways of classical music, the jazz age, etc. Writing a catchy song is fine, but the song structure is almost always the same old BS (intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, outro).
