When you love someone you truly fear offending them nor do you wish them any ill will. If you truly love. However if you truly love, truth should not offend you, if you truly love others and not just yourself and your love of your own version of the truth. That is not love at all and you are in danger of defying God personally. A foolish choice to choose to be God's enemy. If you love God you will choose His ways and not the foolishness of your own heart. Are you wiser than God? you are a fool if you are.
