In the U.S. people have the attitude that bicycles are for children. That is a major part of the problem. Look at the picture that was on the bottom of this site the other day. Obama on a bike, while Putin is on a horse without a shirt on. Implying Obama is "gay" for riding a bike. That's the mentality.
