Dutch Dude (OP) User ID: 913721 Netherlands 07/28/2012 12:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Okay folks, I'm gonna throw something out there, I'm an 'mericuhn I lived in Europe for a year... Belgium... I was studying and hence I didn't really exercise much but was quite sedentary. I also ate mayonnaise and french fries at alma everyday. I really didn't pay attention to my health or weight at all and I lost 50 pounds like nothing. My pants didn't fit by the time I left. I wanted to keep the weight off when I got home and I actually paid attention to what I ate and I ate more fruits and healthy foods and made sure to get more exercise everyday... I gained the 50 pounds back in about 3 months. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10020994 I swear you can taste the difference in European food, their mayo, bread, fruit, everything lacks the punch of american foods but it is wholesome and overall better tasting and better for you. This GMO shit is not natural. It took like a month to adjust to the taste of European foods, coming back to america I don't like any of our food it just isn't natural. There's something vulgar about the punch of American food, something very healthy about how natural European food is. I'm not kidding here either, I'm sitting here eating an apple because I feel frickin' fat, I wouldn't have had to do that in Europe. So true... and Belgium is not even the best place to hangout in Europe. But still a lot better than the U.S. in many ways. Did you have a good time ? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17966716 Also North America is much larger than Europe. Are cities also sprawl out much more than European cities. To get from one city to another in Canada is equivlant to crossing through countries in Europe. But why would you think of any of that, your just out to make yourself look superior to you North American brothers. - Streets Tighter Yes, but still we have extra seperate lanes for bikes - America bigger than Europe Ofcourse, but not as efficiently used as Europe Europe has 800 million inhabitants, the U.S. around 300 Americans have a lot of space, but live in the cities. Europeans live everywhere, much more balanced. - Canada and Europe. Totally not the same in many aspects. The whole of Europe is civilized instead of bare land. Canada has merely twice the amount of inhabitants of Holland. Yes there really is no comparison, I prefer Europe, the public transportation, infrastructure, and layout is much better and more conducive to health than the US. America is so spread out that no one rides bikes or walks everywhere, which contributes, but I believe there is something terribly unhealthy about our GMOs that is definitely a contributor. |

Absolutely loved it, I got my TEFL here and I'm probably coming back to get a job to live there as long as I can. I visited the Nederlands more than any other place. (and no not for pot i had friends that live there) I loved the nederlands it's very nice, also the general culture of europe is nice and laid back, people have a perspective on life, while americans just run a rat/fat race until they die. |

In the US I believe it is the high levels of carbohydrates and sweets and in particular the overuse of high fructose corn syrup. Do the Dutch drink soda pop?
