The main reason why The Netherlands has 5 times less obese people than the U.S.

That was so cool to see all the bike riders. Also was that in a city as there didnt seem to be alot of traffic and its seems very considerate to bike riders. Makes for a very healthy population.

I question the 5 time figure and would like to see a source for that because the recent things I have read on obesity show the U.S. at something like 28% and the UK right behind it at 25% or close to that.

Also Europeans seem to totally fail to appreciate the fact that we, too, have enclaves and small segments of society where obesity is fairly rare. Often these are based on ethnicity. For example I haven't seen many fat Amish people.

Also there is a huge cultural diversity in this country comparable to that in Europe. The language is the same but the way of life say in New Orleans is far different from Bangor Maine.

You can't drive a couple of hours and be in a different country from most points in this country the way you can in the EU.

And my son did come home with a Dutch bride so we do travel more than Europeans seem to think.

I guess you haven't traveled much. Trying going to the Middle East or Africa some time. The stench of some of the poorly sanitized slums are overwhelming.

Let's see said I WOULD NOT say almost anywhere is better than the US. I totally agree that even our most poor have it better than many, many other countries. I suggested not only is it good for us to travel, but for people to visit here as well instead of just going by what the media and movies says about us.

You left out the fact that the Dutch are also the TALLEST people in the world, lol. That does factor into it.

And I'm genetically Dutch, have a Dutch last name which is also a town in northern Netherlands. And I know for a fact I just don't gain weight as easily as many people through no effort on my part.

And I can say this anonymously only that my little Dutch daughter-in-law while really beautiful is dumb as a box of rocks! And so far, two years into this marriage, is totally unteachable, the worst housekeeper I have ever seen and I do pity my son now. She is from the Bergen area.
