In 2010 – five current and former FDA scientists and doctors warned the FDA about potential issues with new medical devices involving mammograms and colonoscopies as well as pharmaceuticals that were in the process of being approved. The scientists and doctors claimed that these devices exposed patients to unhealthy levels of radiation. ”Higher-ups” at the FDA didn’t like the official reviews by those doctors and scientists; the FDA then started actively investigating potential leaks to Congress, President Obama, and the media.

The FDA collected 80,000 pages worth of surveillance on these scientists and doctors that included emails with the media and Congress. This included keystroke logging, watching conversations in real time, capturing screen shots and webcam images. And the only reason these doctors found about this is because of a private contractor that accidentally put this out on the internet for everyone in the world to see. Now – these five current and former doctors and scientists are suing the FDA.
