No race is superior to another across the board. We all have "something special" in our genetic make-up. I said in the other thread that I think the Dutch seem to have a knack for business....history tells us that....even when history isn't very kind about it...(The opium wars with China) but remove the good/bad and you just have a successful business model.

I am an American of Scot-Irish descent. I tend to be bullheaded and never give up even when it might be the more prudent choice...it's just the way I am. I don't claim to have the highest IQ nor do I claim to be the most physically fit...I just know...in a fight...you better knock me out because I will not lie down and quit. I have had a few knock down drag outs in my day and even pummeled and bruised...I kept on going...to the point the conflicts had to be stopped by someone...I was not going to quit over a bloody nose or a black eye...it is not in me to quit.

Actually....I had a friend (truthfully, my business partner) recently go on a European tour. (I have more kids so I can't afford it yet).

He came back and the country that he blabbed the most about was...wait for it....the Netherlands. He went to France, Spain, Greece, Italy and Germany and the one country that impressed him the most was The Netherlands. He said....for what it is worth....that you cannot be a vendor there unless you are multi-lingual. You have to speak at least 3 languages...he is Puerto-Rican so...he said...to keep the America hate down, he spoke Spanish the whole trip...(how sad is that?) If this is true, I applaud the Dutch. What a clever business model...."You need to speak multiple languages to tend to our tourists or you cannot get a business license"

it has been said that English is the hardest language to learn...I don't know, it's the only one I speak. I have had a year of Latin so I can kinda understand all the languages that spring from it...poorly...but I could survive if need be. I would love to learn German. I think it is a power language...it just sounds tough! Gaelic? Who speaks Gaelic? I would like to one day learn some because of heritage but....I would also like to learn some Norwegian, swede and Finn....apparently my family history though predominately Scot-irish...has a decent dose of Scandinavian...which country?...I have no idea. Rumors say Norway but...we just don't know.

Being of Dutch decent, (all aunts, uncles and cousins still live in Holland) I can say without malice that the Dutch are NOT a race, unless you call a "heinz 57 mutt" purebred. The Dutch have been invaded from every direction over the years, and many invaders stayed... even today, in many industries, english is the working language, because people from all over the world live there.. they may not speak Dutch when they arrive, but most know english.

I find the Dutch are very accomodating, and know how to party! They work hard and they play hard. They are physically fit, for the most part, because they bike every where. The government was smart enough to put in bike lanes right off the hop... something our municipal governments could learn from.

So superior? no, great? I think so!
