scorpio66 User ID: 2453057 United States 07/29/2012 05:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nice thread! I think I am on the brink of lucid dreaming. A few years ago I realized I have a "dream lobby" that I find myself in while dreaming. It's no place that I ever remember being, but it shows up in my dreams frequently. Sometimes I'm a small child, sometimes a teen, sometimes my current age, etc. It seems to be some old city apartment building (I've never lived in such a place) with the old metal mailboxes on the wall and glass doors that lead to the outside. It's always bright and sunny beyond the doors and I never see anything outside. There's a staircase that I'm often sitting (or playing on when I'm young in the dream). The "lobby" is old and dusty but not run down, just seems old. I'm always alone but not frightened or anything. Anyway, I realized a couple of years ago that I end up in this dream lobby and now it wakes me up every time I recognize it. I've been interested in dreams since I was young and more recently lucid dreaming. As I said, I think I'm on the brink, but whenever I get "close", something totally bizarre will happen (a rhinocerous walked through the room last night for example) or I'll find myself in my lobby and I think "oh, i'm dreaming" and wake up. Any ideas on how to realize i'm dreaming but not wake up? Thanks and again, great thread! |

Newbie Dreamer User ID: 7556408 Lithuania 07/29/2012 07:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dreaming is nothing but a representation of memories in which you have experienced throughout your life. Your brain takes these stored memories and creates a mirage type dream through the use of many many memories, creating a whole new environment. Lucid dreamers(who can control their dreams), simply have an awareness and access to their memories while they sleep. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10791064 Absolutly not. In my lucid state i learned create world from scratch. Flied to plain field and created world growed trees flowers made house fontains and so on everything growed from ground like mushrooms. You're always safe in your dream. There is nothing to be afraid of. Dream is going on only in your head. Horrible characters do not threaten you physically. They are a symbol of fears from ur waking life. You can fight them in a dream, but you better stop and ask what they represent. |

The old-style building could have literally been a building you used to live in, in a life previous to your current one. I realize this may not be your belief, that you have lived more than one life, but the phenomenon is documented that some people have distinct memories of having lived before, information they would have had no way of knowing. As for realizing you're dreaming and avoiding waking up, try telling yourself in your dream that you want to see more, or avoiding the 'i'm dreaming' thought altogether. You could be right as I do feel comfortable when I'm in the old building and it seems familiar though I don't know it in this life. I hadn't thought of it being somewhere I may have lived in a past life! |

primordialbreath User ID: 20843088 United States 07/30/2012 02:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i usually don't post private information but i'll make an exception for (rare)heady thread... i'm a fairly capable lucid dreamer. i explore exotic locales pretty regularly. i love dreaming so i seem to have a pretty active dream state. one recent dream i came way from with two clear descriptors. they stuck out vividly so i remember them. i was in location that was a very warm home, comforting in every way. a recluse uncle of mine was there. the atmosphere was extremely serene and active. i was playing some games, and i was enjoying wonderful foods. one message came across about this place; it wasn't a sporadic zone or environment that was subject to quick changes. no, i soon got the impression that this place was something like a holding sanctuary--a zone outside of any time streams. then i was interfacing with an apparatus. i was divinating over the apparatus with my hands. it was like a shrine of some sort, circular and golden, and inside the 'shrine' there was a brilliant golden orb levitating in the center, which was something like the access point to other worlds. the phrase then came to me for this 'shrine'; "small temple golden orb". it is something like a divinatory apparatus, a medium through which to see. i then flashed back to the holding sanctuary, where i was then sitting in front of an asian boy, appearing 9-10 years of age. we were having some kind of telepathic discourse. his style was to oppose the tantra of my 'small temple golden orb' with a totem that i took be to his divination apparatus. it flashed to me; "black death spider". although, it did not come off as threatening, but more of a mutual component to accent my small temple golden orb. a complementary yin protocol. it is important to note that there was no strife or tension between the boy and i. no, we respected each other greatly. i took him to be a very wise adept. soon after the dream ended. |
