Help me understand why being Gay is so hated.

Because they like to fuck other men in their poop-holes, and that is sorta disgusting and frowned upon in polite society.

I dislike gays because they think everyone hates them. I don't care if Gary and Terry want to suck each other off at home. I find the idea of it disgusting but what they do at home is their business not mine. I don't like sardines but I don't care if you eat them. Now if sardines had march every week, and cry on every talk show about how I hated them maybe I would feel more strongly about the subject.

Here's my thought.

Christians are so opposed to gay marriage because if they were legal, then another piece of the Bible would be de-legitimized in America, something Christians don't want to happen any more than it already has.

Look at some of the other religiously justifiable things that we as a society no longer partake in:

Polygamy
Slavery
Women's servitude to men

The problem is, many of the Bible's principles contradict our modern way of life.

Like it or not, the Bible says you can stone your new wife if she is not a virgin or your children if they are disobedient, that women must submit to their husbands and that rape is acceptable during war and conquering.

In order to make a more harmonious society, we simply do not allow these things to happen, despite being justifiable in the Bible.

When Christians come along and say "The Bible says that homosexuals are wrong and will burn in Hell!" but turn right around and follow up with "But that slavery stuff, stoning your children, raping, that's all Old Testament stuff, so it doesn't count" they basically point out a flawed and obvious hypocrisy in our faith.

Especially when you consider that Jesus said nothing on homosexuality. Literally, he didn't touch it. Since we, as Christians, take our cue from the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus, because all that Old Testament stuff doesn't count after Jesus came along anyway, right?, we look to his words for guidance on the issue and there's just nothing there.

It's been reported that there are more openly atheist people in the U.S. than ever before. It's also been reported that despite the fact many young identify in the Christian-faith, they simply do not attend worship services.

Christianity is in crisis, but instead of embracing Christ's message of love, its leaders continue to criticize and demonize the gay community, especially here in the United States.

I fear the longer that Christian leaders continue this fight, the more out-of-touch our faith will continue to look.

I do not think they developed a "gay sray". I have read, not studied about a chemical put into thermal paper "receipt paper", you receive everywhere; stores, fast food, local stores, etc. This paper contains a chemical. I do not remember the chemical name, but it is the same chemical which is used in medical procedures to change females into men, visa versa. It is scary. The hormones in our bodies are being altered.

I think that it's safe to assume that in part some of those things are exactly as you said however, though I realize you didn't mean it to be taken that way.

People are disgusted by bestiality because they were taught to be and find themselves attracted to it.

The same is probably true of pedophilia.

Those that don't feel an attraction to children think it's morally wrong, but don't feel a strong sense of disgust about it, because they don't consider it on a personal level.

Hate can be socially conditioned however. Like hating people of an inoffensive minority group. (Say Jewish people.)

That could certainly be separate from the feelings of disgust that those that have such tendencies but are suppressing them feel.

Most people don't despise abortion.

I would imagine those that do still have the same authoritarian or religious upbringing. They likely don't secretly want an abortion though. Saying that is a silly deflection that doesn't even make logical sense.

People dislike adultery because they fear being betrayed by someone they thought loved them.

I have never heard of anyone hating polygamy. I can't even hazard a guess. Sorry. Maybe it's something to do with unequal resources?

If fifty percent of all men suddenly turned gay, which won't happen because we are not biologically programmed for it, then in three generations the population would be down...

Not at all.

Why?

Because one man can father children with hundreds of women.

Now if fifty percent of women also make such a choice (It seems to be a true choice for them, not bi0logical in nature...) then you will have a reduction in population of fifty percent each generation.

You would functionally never reach the end, but things would stabilize well before that, and women would decide to have children again first.

So humanity itself is not at risk.

Civilization however isn't just the amount of births and deaths, so how about we look at that separately?

It never has. Indeed, many cultures have thrived with very open homosexual practices.

I get the basic argument you're claiming I think. You have a religious belief system that says such things are bad and are closed minded about the topic.

The undertone is based on an authoritarian religious upbringing or conversion and any evidence to the contrary makes you feel uncertain and scared. You can't admit to that though, so regurgitate very poorly though out ideas that someone else came up with in a similar mental state.

The simple truth is that the studies show that homophobia is based in sexual desire for the same sex, at least in men.

It may be hard to hear, especially if you feel that way and are in denial, but it's the fact of the matter.

Umm, there are a whole bunch of "covenants" and they're all treated with the same seriousness in the Bible.

Also, we need to learn when stories in the Bible are allegorical and when they are factual. God making Adam and Eve = allegorical. Who were Cain and Able supposed to marry, Eve? Seriously fucked up when you think about it.

Most people don't really give a shit about what kind of abusive acts they might do to other people who think they like it. It's when they cross the line into the public sphere where it starts to be a problem. Often times they demand that the entire world modify their beliefs and perceptions to fit their ideas. Being gay is a sin? Does it ever seem odd to you that we are all born sinners? Why does God punish us for what Adam and Eve did? I'm not gay but it does strike me odd that we judge someone's else's normal behavior as being wrong. A certain percentage of animals in the animal kingdom exhibit 'gay' behavior, we human primates are no exception.

I have many homosexual friends and coworkers. There are many that I like and they are my friends. There are many that I can not stand. The same is true of heterosexuals I know. I judge people based on who they are, not what they are.
