BREAKING: NASA release photos of the US flag on the Moon...
Heh, debunk this Moon tards:

Four decades after the last astronauts landed on the moon and planted an American flag in lunar soil, scientists wondered: 'Does that star spangled banner yet wave?'

Finally new images from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) have given proof in the night, that the flags are, indeed, still there.

All but one of the six flags left by American astronauts remain standing, according to an analysis of the shadows they cast on the surface of the moon.

I do have one question though. How did they get through the Van Allen belts? How did they deal with all the unknown types of cosmic radiation and come back alive and cancer-free? China and Russia could never find a way to get through the belts.

Answer:
The Van Allen belts are areas of highly charged particles, mainly electrons and protons, but also with smaller amount of alpha particles.
The dangers to the craft are in the form of radiation which can interfere with, disrupt and damage sensitive electrical equipment. In some space flights electrical equipment has been turned off whilst passing through the belts in order to prevent damage. Of course, space craft also have built-in screening to minimise radiation risks.
To protect astronauts from radiation dangers, spacecraft are fitted with various types of shielding, such as aluminum shielding, and the astronauts also wear protective clothing during this part of their journey. Also the courses/paths were plotted so that the craft would travel through the parts of space where the Van Allen belts are at their thinnest. Despite these precautions, there were and are still serious radiation considerations.
Using calculations of the amount of radiation, the actual time spent passing through the belts, and the shielding used by the Apollo crew, scientists reckoned that the Apollo spacecrafts would pass through the Van Allen belts so quickly that space travellers would not receive any significant life or health-threatening levels of exposure to radiation risks during their flights.
But the matter is not clear cut. There was and is a risk, even if infinitely small. For example, cancers are caused by cell mutation. And sometimes it takes many years for cancer to become evident in a person exposed to harmful radiation. In the Apollo missions the probability of risk was considered to be so small as to be 'nil' for all practical purposes.

Post-flight Developments: In more recent years NASA has reported cases of eye cataracts developing in the majority of astronauts after returning to earth, some within 4 to 5 years of returning, other cases taking 10 or more years to become apparent. Scientists have long known that there is a causal relationship between radiation exposure and cataracts, but whether the astronauts' eye disorders occurred as the direct consequence of passing through the Van Allen belts, or by other radiation in space, or by entirely non-space-flight-related factors is unknown.

Summary: The astronauts got through the Van Allen belts by speed, shielding and carefully planned flight paths, but whether they did so without harm has yet to be determined.

There you have it.

I would ask these guys to stand in a room generating and reflecting the same amount of rads they were supposedly subjected to in space. Plus the heat from the Sun, and the cold from space itself, and see how they stand up for a few days....

Cant wait for China, India and Japan to realease their actual hi def moon shots, in colour. Wonder what they WONT show. (ruskies already aware of this)

Blackmail, it's whats for dinner.

PS - deal with Ruskies done after US threatened to blow apart the fact that Gagarin was not first man in to space. Illyushin was, and crashed in China.

PPS - what fucking flag? that grey dot?

Both the USA and the Soviets had send probes to the Moon before any manned mission beyond the VABs.
It was NOT an unknown environment.

Only the low energetic charged particle radiation, not the high energetic cosmic rays, and certainly not anything in EM like x-rays.
So, mostly solar protons and electrons.

 Quoting: UK Coward 20739758

It's spelt aluminium.

What are the types and fluxes of radiation on the surface of the Moon?
How much shielding did the suits provide?
What was the duration of the exposure?

Without answers to these questions "should have" is just an uneducated guess.

While on the moon they were sitting ducks for solar flares and space debris attracted to the Moon's gravity. Yet they were hopping around playing golf like they were on holiday. Seems a bit far fetched.

I have no issue with craft entering a LEO, but not beyond.

Axx, you stand by that notion that nothing went up? or were you trying to say never went up past LEO?

If they didnt go in to LEO, where did they go?

The fella that has recently come forward who was working on Tern Island that tracked both Illyushin's and Gagarin's craft/transmissions/heart beats is worth listening to.

That Illyushin was totally out of control and crashed in China, and stayed there for the better part of a year, and was a cover up, would certainly be enough for the US to threaten USSR with severe embarassment regarding Gagarin being the first man in to space.

Like a lot of the Apollo astronauts, Gagarin's eyes were hiding a sadness.

All the space agencies are hiding something, no-one can deny that. As to what is fed to us as dissinformation, or truth remains for history and clever folk to dig up.

LOL! Sarcasm right?

I think this thread was meant to be sarcastic, but I can't entirely tell.

Personally, I can't say I know for sure one way or the other.....it wouldn't surprise me if we DIDN'T land on the moon....nor would surprise me if we actually did.
I wasn't there, so who knows.

There are MANY political and other reasons for why a moon landing would be fake. Not to mention, everything from the poor video footage, to the fishy cirumstances, just seem sketchy at best. I would expect more from a government.

I am completely unbiased when it comes to the moon landing. As I said, don't know either way.

But if you think these photos are proof of anything, you are retarded. There is NO flag in those photos. Its just black pixels, with some gray pixels. I'm not saying for 100% sure it isn't of flags, but come on people.
