You can see it "flapping in the wind" only when the astronauts are physically touching it and moving the pole. It is completely still otherwise. |

You would have noticed Solar Bleaching on Earth,for instance in Shop Displays that have'nt been moved in a long time or anything left in the Sun too long. Thats' on Earth where we have protection from the Solar Wind,CMEs' and Flares - by all rights that thing should be weakened and shredded to a pile of pieces.
