The negative dbz values are likely dust particles the radar is picking up, and everything else is either ground clutter, biological (bugs) or windfarms. NO wind so no dust, the blues ARE positive dbz and it has never looked like this before, so biological?? and did ya click on the arrow at the upper left?? click north east arrow...map temp out of order!! been so for days, like when this started...that happens to be over the san andreas fault, just about where its hung up!! and the location of the last big one on the san andreas in southern cal You don't need wind for dust. Dust particles exist in our air 24/7. The radar is sensitive enough to pick that up. The positive values are likely biological signals, like bugs. A couple of the more intense returns are windfarms and the returns near Santa Clarita and points east are the lowest part of the beam hitting the mountainside. Really, that much dust in the air???yeah there is, enough for it to register in the negative values Im at 2,000ft and dont need a dust mask I am at sea level, and I don't need one either, but what does that prove?...there are NO windfarms anywhere around here actually there are, which is why I said the areas of "more intense returns", the low resolution legacy data that the NWS website displays makes this hard to pick up, but use a 3rd party software and it's easy to see...and thats one hell of a lot of bugs!!!you'd be surprised havent had to pull out the raid yet...actually, I have horses and have noticed....NO FLY'S!!!! thery where all over the place last month....THATS NOT NORMAL!!! and mountain tops?? there always here but these returns are notthere always have been some low dbz returns because the lowest tilt (.5 degrees) that the beam is angle at is low enough that the lowest portion of the beam could have difficulty clearing the areas of higher elevation, especially when certain atmospheric conditions are present!!! |
