Someone somewhere is keeping a heavy lid shut on this topic. A news crew could spend 20 minutes at that beach and stir MAJOR attention to this problem. I guess that is why they're not there...TPTB dont want attention to it! Quoting: Idgits The two stories below are evidence of the lack of coverage. the first one, on the massive dock that washed ashore just mentions that the dock itself is not radioactive. Most of the other news stories are from Jan 2012 LOL!!!!! The last story talks about a debris field the size of the state of California just passing hawaii, they talk of it taking years for all the debris to make the trip across !!! The reports of Radioactive blue fin and radioactive kelp off the Cali coast should sober and concern the soberest minds. [link to www.voanews.com] [link to www.brucesussman.com] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1369739 United States 07/30/2012 08:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been to Bandon numerous times as well as other beaches in Oregon and California. I know that the beaches are fairly empty most of the time. There may be a few people here and there, but I have never been to a beach that could be considered packed. The signs were certainly interesting and the dead birds are rather upsetting. I was in Crescent City, CA about two weeks ago, walking along the main strip of coastline. I know that I was extremely surprised by all of the dead crabs. It is common to see a few, but on this day they were EVERYWHERE! I even commented about it to my husband, telling him that I had never walked on that beach before and been worried about tripping on a dead crab. There were so many of them that a lot of them were still intact. The seagulls were around, looking very stuffed, and I took it to mean that there were so many dead crabs that they could not eat all of them. It is normally extremely rare to see a washed up crab that has not been completely gutted by the gulls, but the majority on that day were intact. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9198871 Yep... Coos bay here again... You are right. When I commented about how I was amazed at how many people were at Bastendorff, I was comparing it to what it's usually like. It's the most crowded beach in the Coos Bay area, and yet it's mostly deserted most of the time. Even though I was amazed a how many people were there, it was still nothing compared to a California beach. I was just comparing it to a normal summer weekend day, there. I'm just spoiled in that regard. I often walk for miles without seeing another soul. It's a good place to be, when the SHTF. With fish, edible plants, wild game, mild weather, plenty of rainfall, etc... Although the fish might be radioactive now! First of all, "crowded" would be a relative term. One places "crowded" doesn't mean shoulder to shoulder people. I'm a little concerned that both you and OP have spent a great deal of time in this area and yet one of you is apparently wrong or unaware of what's going on around you. |

This needs a super pin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. I can't believe there is a place in this country, with the summer we've had, that has empty beaches at 4:00 during the summer. Must be a VERY strange area. On a side note, I'm going to start taking pictures of my area. The boarded up/closed businesses make me sick. Things we knew for 50 years, just boarded up left empty. YoungPatriot User ID: 20847397 United States 07/30/2012 08:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live about a 2hour drive away from there. To be honest I've been a little reluctant to take my family to coast much this year. As far as the bacteria warning signs, I cant recall ever hearing about a bacterial problem on the Bandon beaches. I do recall the notices on the radio, that NOAA was deploying people to the Oregon coast and that some of them would be carrying portable geigers or something, so that people could have tsunami debris tested for nuclear contamination. I can say this though, you've just shown me the first pictures of this that I've seen, and now I would like to know why our local press is just sitting quiet on this. I did find a forum post on a google search from a fellow who lives south of Bandon in a town called Langlois, who says the birds have been just falling dead from the sky. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 17455716 United States 07/30/2012 08:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ThankYou OPee. I live in NW Florida and I have been telling people how there is a lack of birds ever since the BeePee gusher and spraying of corexit. And they are STILL spraying the corexit. The pelicans and gulls are scarce. There used to be thousands on the beaches here but now you can literally count them. Of course you can find gulls at the garbage dump inland but that's always been like that. Nothing new there. Its the fact that the gulls and storks and pelicans and egrets on our beaches are so few in number now that concerns me. Finally, our local news did a story on it...how the birds are disappearing from the beaches...so maybe SOMEBODY will wake up and realize how THEY have blatantly DESTROYED our nature. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1369739 United States 07/30/2012 08:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yep... You're an Aussie. That's all you can say isn't it? Its all you can think of isn't it? With your sheep like intellect a flag on the internet is all that wanders in to your pea fucking brain to say isn't it? you know, I really really really don't think we need to banter with these nutjob Aussie posters. It's NOT enhancing the site or even giving us fun fodder to play with. It's always just in-your-face annoying. If it weren't for a few threads, I just wouldn't come here. But they are even on those threads. I mean look at this, a quintessentially perfect GLP post, not controversial and something intereesting to all of us, and there's an Aussie: vomiting and crapping all over everything and screaming and crying like a baby. Why? Why do we have to endure this? I'll tell you one thing, I AM judging Australia by what I see on here. I never never never want to meet anyone from there and I am hoping it sinks underwater. |
