I'm not really good at all this foreign policy and currency stuff, but what it seems to me is that as long we we continue trading with each other, there is no wars. This includes the introduction of the EU, and the power of the dollar spreading to other countries.

Although I don't think China will switch to the dollar, there are at least a some Chinese people who move to America and believe in raising their children here with the same freedoms as all the other races that came here.

"blame"?

America has always had open doors to the world. There is still lots of open country here. These folks are providing jobs building these homes. They wish to live here. America, the land of opportunity. These folks aren't coming here for a free hand out. These folks are paying cash for their homes, more than likely, they will start businesses and create more jobs.

Look at the bright side. What happen to greeting your new neighbors with a welcome basket and getting to know them?

The reason they're buying is that it's dirt cheap to them. Brokeassed Ameritards haven't got the money to compete with them thanks to the Invasion from the south that holds all wages down.

A personal thanks goes out to Ted Kennedy for his immigration acts from 1965 and all the other traitors that want to give amnesty to the invaders.

Re: U.S., meet you new neighbors...
Canadians in general cannot afford to buy these houses just as much as Americans cant. The housing market in Toronto is fucked up because of Asians bidding up property to as much as 1-2 million when it is a shitty bungalow and is worth 400,000 max.

Let's face the facts the chinese are buying our land faster than it can be put up for sale. I live in a mid class neighborhood and 3 houses that went on sale in the past 2 months are now occupied by Asians.

What to do about it? Until we start leading in manufacturing again this trend will continue.

AH nope! You are wrong on that front. We had a resource sector boom in oil & potash. A small town of less than a thousand people has houses going for over $200 000 for a piece of shit built in the 1900's. Trailers in mobile parks over over $100 000 now. Saskatchewan realtors all think their town is downtown Calgary. Seriously, they appraised my house at $650 000 3 years ago, I can literally sell it for $800 000 today and it is nothing fancy.

It is like Canadians who are not bi lingual, they seem only half Canadain, meaning a American who does not welcome the huddled masses to come buy a home and start a business seems very un American.

This is happening in Jersey City big time. The section known as west Wall Street (Newport Pavonia, Harbor Side) has massive apartment buildings going up for some big bucks. A co-worker of mine lives in one and said that she has no neighbors because the Chinese have bought up most the building but no one moves in. They just bought it for investments.

Considering all of the American hate I read on here, I am surprised no one has thought its nice people STILL like America enough to WANT to buy a home there.

Can someone please explain to me what is sad about foreign investment? I know why it burns a percentage of Mexicans when we come down here and buy their land (hence the "trust" law for coastal purchases). Is it, in your opinion, sad because the number of foreign investors that have the financial means to do so? Is it the state of the economy sad?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20776793

Buying real-estate is considered foreign investment how exactly? Are Americans benefitting from chinese buying their land? It's an investment for the buyer, not the American seller who has been forced into foreclosure. There are strong winds brewing and Chinese people better prepare themselves for a backlash. We can debate globalization as long as we want however at the end of the day your average person will only see Asians buying their homeland in droves. The only question that remains is how long will it be tolerated
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2339723

the foreign buying has stabilized the housing market which benefits ALL by reducing the supply overhang.

Re: U.S., meet you new neighbors...
There's a huge number of wealthy foreigners in Boston also, especially Chinese, Indians, Arabs [from the gulf states] and wealthy South Americans. They seem to have money to burn. I'm sure they think prices compared to where they come from for many things [not just real estate] are a bargain, and the U.S. [like the U.K., Canada, Australia] is politically and socially stable.

I don't have a problem with them spending $ here and investing, but of course the 'investing' part really means speculation/gambling and this causes inflation, which hurts 95% pf the population.

It's mostly LUXURY housing they're buying. That helps VERY FEW people aside form some real estate agents, management companies/contractors, banks, a tiny number of luxury home owners. And it causes INFLATION.
