This includes the introduction of the EU, and the power of the dollar spreading to other countries. Brokeassed Ameritards haven't got the money to compete with them thanks to the Invasion from the south that holds all wages down. A personal thanks goes out to Ted Kennedy for his immigration acts from 1965 and all the other traitors that want to give amnesty to the invaders. |

The housing market in Toronto is fucked up because of Asians bidding up property to as much as 1-2 million when it is a shitty bungalow and is worth 400,000 max. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2339723 Let's face the facts the chinese are buying our land faster than it can be put up for sale. I live in a mid class neighborhood and 3 houses that went on sale in the past 2 months are now occupied by Asians. What to do about it? Until we start leading in manufacturing again this trend will continue. Good post, but don't expect anyone to accept the truth. |

Only if you plan on moving to one of the larger cities, there's still affordable housing out on the prairies. AH nope! You are wrong on that front. We had a resource sector boom in oil & potash. A small town of less than a thousand people has houses going for over $200 000 for a piece of shit built in the 1900's. Trailers in mobile parks over over $100 000 now. Saskatchewan realtors all think their town is downtown Calgary. Seriously, they appraised my house at $650 000 3 years ago, I can literally sell it for $800 000 today and it is nothing fancy. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20776793 Can someone please explain to me what is sad about foreign investment? I know why it burns a percentage of Mexicans when we come down here and buy their land (hence the "trust" law for coastal purchases). Is it, in your opinion, sad because the number of foreign investors that have the financial means to do so? Is it the state of the economy sad? Buying real-estate is considered foreign investment how exactly? Are Americans benefitting from chinese buying their land? It's an investment for the buyer, not the American seller who has been forced into foreclosure. There are strong winds brewing and Chinese people better prepare themselves for a backlash. We can debate globalization as long as we want however at the end of the day your average person will only see Asians buying their homeland in droves. The only question that remains is how long will it be tolerated the foreign buying has stabilized the housing market which benefits ALL by reducing the supply overhang. some of you posters have little grasp of economics. |
