We want to evaluate the seriousness of the threat posed by the recent ebola outbreak in western Uganda. The outbreak appeared in Kigadi, a small village in the Kibaale district. The disease was first confirmed by the government on 28 July. By 11 Aug, Medecins Sans Frontieres epidemiologist Dr Paul Roddy said the disease was under control, with no new deaths in August. It will be classified as contained if there are no confirmed cases by middle September. In total, 19 people died from the disease in the outbreak.

The Ebola virus plaguing Uganda is one of the deadliest known to man, claiming the lives of two-thirds of the people it has infected so far, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The tropical virus can fell its victims within days, causing severe fever and muscle pain, weakness, vomiting and diarrhoea – in some cases shutting down organs and causing unstoppable bleeding.

No medicine or vaccine exists.

Of about 1,850 people diagnosed with Ebola haemorrhagic fever since the virus was first identified 36 years ago in the Democratic Republic of Congo (then Zaire), 1,200 have died, the UN health agency says.

Sorry putting one after another. I am looking it up and this in particular we may all need to know one day. Sorry but I have a very bad feeling about this round of it.

The headache begins, typically, on the seventh day after exposure in the form of a throbbing pain behind the eyes, the pain grows worse and the eyeballs hurt. Medication has no affect. The pain moves around between the eyes and the temples. Then a backache forms.
On the third day after the headache starts the victim becomes nauseated and spikes a fever, and vomiting begins.
When the vomiting becomes intense dry heaves, the victim becomes strangely passive, presumably from brain damage. The face loses all appearance of life and sets into an expressionless mask, with the eyelids droopy, as if the victims eyes are falling out and half closed at the same time. The eyeballs are frozen in their sockets and turn a bright red. The skin on the face turns yellowish with star like red speckles. on the whole the victim will begin to look zombie like.
With this physical transformation, there is a considerable psychological change as well; becoming sullen, resentful, angry, and very amnesia, the victim may seem like a zombie in behavior as well.
this will continue for a few days and then the victim will regurgitate the substance known as vomito negro or black vomit. this is a red liquid speckled with black, it is blood that has come into the stomach as the Ebola virus eats away at the stomach wall. The red dots on the victims face have become swollen, purple bruises, and the connective tissue on the face has corroded so that the entire face is black and blue, and literally hanging from the bone.
The victim holds his/herself ridged as if any movement would rupture something inside of them. Blood has began to clot all over the blood stream, the liver, the kidneys, the lungs, hands and feet are all becoming jammed with blood clots. In essence a full body stroke is occurring and the blood is slowing down enough to kill the internal organs. The intestines are dead or dying, and personality is being wiped away by brain damage, this is called depersonalization and it means that the brain has been liquefied by the virus to the point that only the basic instincts and functions are still working.
Soon after nose bleeds begin signaling the last stage of the attack. As the victims flesh deteriorates, the body becomes a virus time bomb.
The last phase occurs only after the victim has vomited all stomach contents and much blood and has lost most human personality characteristics, after all this, the victim "crashes and bleeds out". feeling dizzy and utterly weak, the spine goes limp and nerveless and all sense of balance is lost.the room turns around and around. the victim is going into shock. then, leaning over head on the knees a huge amount of blood is expelled with a gasping groan. consciousness is lost and the now limp body is pitched forward onto the floor. The only sound is a choking in the throat while the vomiting continues while the he/she is unconscious. Then the sound of a bed sheet being torn in half, which is the sound of the bowls opening and venting blood from the anus. The blood is mixed with intestinal lining. The gut has been sloughed. The linings of the intestines have come off and are being expelled with huge amounts of blood.

Security and medical officials in Kibaale District have registered a case in which a man allegedly went in an isolation ward at Kagadi Hospital and stole a cellular phone from one of the Ebola patients.


The 40-year-old resident of Kyakabugahya LCI in Kagadi Town Council travelled about three kilometers to the hospital to apparently obtain a phone estimated to be valued at Shs60,000 more than two weeks ago.


The suspect allegedly broke into the isolation ward on the night of Tuesday August 14, undetected by hospital guards. The patient, who has since succumbed to the deadly hemorrhagic fever, then reported the theft to the hospital security that then embarked on tracing the alleged thief.


Police detectives began tracking him after he apparently began communicating to his friends using the phone. But as police zeroed in on him, he developed symptoms similar to those of Ebola and sought medication at the hospital.


While at hospital he reportedly confessed stealing the phone and has handed it to Kagadi police.

Public health response plan against the Ebola virus reactivated



The precautionary principle is put forward by the Congolese administration of health, due to the recurrence of hemorrhagic fever that has already claimed several victims in the Democratic Republic of Congo

All Departments having border with the DRC live an alert to the Ebola outbreak, according to the Director General of Health in the Republic of Congo. Adopting measures to prevent Ebola Congo


Brazzaville, Aug 25 (PL) Congo's health authorities announced today the adoption of measures in the African country to prevent Ebola epidemic, which affects the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Congolese Health CEO, Alexis Elira Dokekias, said health officials in the provinces bordering the DRC were properly oriented to reactivate the device response against the disease.
The provisions cover the northern territories as Likouala, Cuvette and Sangha; alongside Plateaux (center), Pool, Niari, Bouenza and Kouilou (south) and Cuvette West said.

He stated that the preventive measures include raising awareness not to touch or eat meat of dead animals found in wooded areas, in addition to the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance in general....

I just think it is not IF it comes to all our Countrys - but when. And this one seems to have gone further then the other outbreaks past. I just do not even want to imagine this spreading on a mass scale - yet somehow it seems guaranteed it is only time until it does - be it this yr or in 10.

Good try man. They are shuttin off the news. Maybe some will come out tonite or something. Uganda is not over, DRC IMO, Has too have way many to track down. a couple of those towns are on a river and have many roadways.They are trying to say there are only a few have died in congo but that is bs. The town of Isiro has 200,00 people by itself. and we already know that people were walkin around a few days before they fell over. So from stories so far, 66% kill ratio on another mild ebola,at least 5 areas have suspects and now north kivu has a suspect or 2. Anyway it's pretty damn quiet. Like Uganda, they will have a big story with alla the suspected and dead, and that it is under control..any day now

After you've copied and pasted this into the address bar, look for any spaces that shouldn't be there. On my computer, they showed up between "Ebola" and "+patient" or between "pa" and "tient". Once you delete the spaces and replace any of the letters that get deleted when you do that, the address works.

FAZ assures over Uganda’s ebola threat

By Felix Malunga -THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has assured the nation that it will not risk the Chipolopolo travel to Uganda in October for the return leg of the final qualifying round for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) before getting a ‘green light’ over the ebola virus scare.

FAZ vice-president, Boniface Mwamelo said the association was closely monitoring the situation in Uganda and that it would be too risky to send an advance party to Kampala without clearance from health authorities.
